What are you talking about? Time is money, man. =p Without people that keep coming back to play the game and spend their time doing it no one is making any money and no one is having any fun.
Edit: Also, don't let any devs hear you saying a 'game' is not a job.

The devs don't make any more money if you spend 50 hours a week on the game instead of 20.
Whether you're hardcore or casual, hard cash paid for the game is the same. You're entitled to have access to exactly the same content.
Time is money everywhere.. no matter which Job you work in. Did you ever work?
And you said it yourself.. you have the same access to the same content. But that doesnt mean you deserve the same amount of Items/Gear w/e. Thats the point, not the fee's you have paid to get access.
When i was 18 i had a Key to the Storeroom of my Boss. It all belong'd to him. In your way i could have go there and take anything out of it?
Probably more than you. Considering the fact that I know the difference between a job and a game. The point is exactly that this is a game, not a job. Ergo your time does not have any monetary value.
You should read a little bit more, as the "hardcore" side is arguing that the developer should put more timesinks in place to bar the casuals from instances of content and their rewards. And you said it yourself.. you have the same access to the same content. But that doesnt mean you deserve the same amount of Items/Gear w/e. Thats the point, not the fee's you have paid to get access.
Apples to oranges. Hardcore gamers are not the casuals' bosses and FFXIV is not a job. When i was 18 i had a Key to the Storeroom of my Boss. It all belong'd to him. In your way i could have go there and take anything out of it?
I doubt that, unless you are born in 60's. Noone said its a Job, but if YOU spend Time on something.. no matter what.. its YOUR time and YOU deserve to get something out of it. In that case, like its been said a couple times: "Time is money". Or is your time not worth anything?
One thing which i totally want, but not because of casual gamers. I personally want that because of the Experience i made in FFXI over 7 Years. I Loved camping against other Linkshells, hours and hours sitting there and hoping for a claim and of course out of that, a good fight and a good reward.
Oranges to Apples. Casual Gamers are not the Maingroup of Players in FFXIV.
You get FUN out of it. You know, it's a game, you play it for your own enjoyment.I doubt that, unless you are born in 60's. Noone said its a Job, but if YOU spend Time on something.. no matter what.. its YOUR time and YOU deserve to get something out of it. In that case, like its been said a couple times: "Time is money". Or is your time not worth anything?
That's what determines the difference between games and jobs.
I'm not surprised, some self-elected hardcore would love to put in absolutely BORING content in order to weed out people that want to have FUN with their limited time in the game. One thing which i totally want, but not because of casual gamers. I personally want that because of the Experience i made in FFXI over 7 Years. I Loved camping against other Linkshells, hours and hours sitting there and hoping for a claim and of course out of that, a good fight and a good reward.
Which of course is completely nonsensical, and would lower the overall quality of the game, since the whole point of good games is to have fun and not to be bored.
Says who exactly? Sorry to burst a big bubble, but this game has been extensively publicized as casual friendly. If you want a game the "maingroup" of which is hardcores, you got the wrong one.Oranges to Apples. Casual Gamers are not the Maingroup of Players in FFXIV.

That is correct, except that Playing FF is NOT a job.
And this discussion is not about getting the same amount of gill and gear but merely having access to ALL content.
Spending too much time infront of your computer should never be awarded with extra content.
It should be discouraged.
Casuals are very much willing to spend time on things, most people would not mind if it takes weeks to get certain things but no one really wants to spend 10 hours non -top gameplay.
People don’t want 3-4 camping, understandable.
I personally would rather spend 5 weeks fighting the same mob 100 times to get the loot instead of spending 50 hours (combined)camping time for some stupid NM. Camping for me is no gameplay, its standing around, wasting my free time.
This is about not having to set alarm at night too.
Its like having to feed your tamagotchi 24 hours without break or he will die.
