Server issues.

To everyone who call somehow, people that are frustrated for being denied of even a login, Whiners and I quote:

"either you never played a launch mmo before and have no understanding of how servers work or you are just a bunch of whiners who depend on an mmo to have something to do with your life."

Your statement is just plain full of ignorance, I've been present in most launches of said popular mmo's, well I do agree there is issues on most Releases for MMO's it's a fact, although how you address the issues is another matter, we all know SE for sure is working non-stop on the issue, I would guess no one doubts that, if they do, then you're right, they're clueless, still, fixing the issue with a message saying World is full, try again later, it's just unacceptable, a queue at least would be nice, otherwise the login attempts are just plain shots in the dark.

Don't even dare to say someone doesn't understand how something works when you don't even know of what you're talking about and at who you're addressing those comments, it's just a matter of being polite and not making a joke of yourself, also it's not depending on a MMO's, probably more than 50% of the so called whiners by you, are actually persons who due to so much things going on in their life have little time to appreciate gaming... that said, the little time they have to play and don't forget, this is a payed service it's not a F2P, of course they want to play it, for you might be ok to pay and not be served, for others isn't, respect that and let'em show their frustration on the matter as it's pretty much just that, 'Frustration'.

As I've seen said from someone, right now it's pretty much like paying for food and staying hungry. - Would you like that also?

Don't take this too personal I'm not raging on anything neither on your comment, you have the right to express your thoughts as do I, just didn't feel right to see someone create a thread to Fire on the so called whiners and no-life as you said and let it pass by without saying anything, so please just stop with the pointless "Please Shut up" threads, people are worried, people are tired, people are frustrated, even if it's normal for issues on MMO's so does the frustration of some.

Making a queue is not a solution. I work with networks and servers all day and making it possible for even more pple to login simply to please whiners is only going to make it harder to fix. You are lucky they haven't simply taken everything down to fix this issues but instead are keeping them up with limit of users so you should be thanking them.

And to answers those saying they had 3 years to prepare, well these are new servers... New hardware and new configuration and setting up those isn't like installing windows 7 on a PC.

I am a network engineer myself. SE's team is probably working on correcting the issues in a test environment working closely with the coders. What they shouldn't be doing is throwing out fixes left and right trying to appease the "whiners" without testing the fixes and correcting the actual issue. I wouldn't be surprised if they took the servers down for 4+ hours prior to official launch to implement a bunch of fixes.

Well when you have like 4 months of beta testing and server stress tests, someone should have seen this coming.

I am also a network engineer and I think its one of two things.

1. They don't have enough bandwith to the data center. Just need to call up their ISP and say gimme more bandwith. If the ISP cant put out more bandwith.... then they are screwed cuz what do you do? change your ISP? Doubt there would be much choice in Canada (no offense). If there is another choice (a choice meaning an ISP with more bandwith to offer), you can't just switch over quickly. I also note Yoshi stating bandwith issues in previous announcements so I put my money on, they are maxing their ISP's bandwith and are stuck with a small pipe and locking people out of the server.

2. Amount of characters per server. The servers cannot physically handle all the characters. They don't have enough money for hardware upgrades (processor or RAM) after the data center was built and capping how many people can log in is the only way to reduce strain. (They are running everything off virtual servers and yes I'm saying they still don't have the hardware for it in this instance).

I don't think its a coding issue because everything is running fine except for latency. If there was broken code then you would see some client crashes or weird things like unable to see your inventory or something.

After one of the maintenance's they gradually allowed more people to log in so they can truly see at what point do the servers fail to give optimal performance. They found the number and capped log ins at that number.

Like I said, I think its bandwith related. Could also be Hardware related but most likely bandwith.

No, not at all with the limited testing they had of weekends only and a low population of players. That is where SE dropped the ball and I kept saying this since phase 1. I was shocked when I heard open beat was only 3 days.... I figured they either have everything nailed down and are very confident or they are big morons.

But to be honest I think that as always they were behind schedule, if you remember prior to 2.0 they would announce patch dates and miss them by a lot every single time... What made us think they wouldn't be behind now? Anyways whining won't help anything now, be patient and let them work.

We could have one large thread on the topic and let SE see the page number increase instead of flooding the front board with duplicate threads over and over. We're all upset regardless if we think it's ok for these issues to be happening. Making another thread when you could post in the countless others helps no one and doesn't make it possible for SE to fix the problem faster.

Is anyone else experiencing lag? The server is taking a good 30 secs - 1 min before it recognises and registers on my client. Things like interacting with NPCs, calling mounts. I can even walk across blue zone lines until I get to the invisible wall.

Have reset router, restarted PC. Wondering if I am alone?
