Did you even read the post you quoted? So I'm a dick for saying that people shouldn't hog server space if they're not actively playing?
That's rich.
If certain people are going to behave like selfish children then they should be treated as such. I hope they add a afk-kick timer and I hope they add it soon.
Do you blame them? I'm going to do the same thing...and probably uninstall this game after the very first 1017 I get tomorrow.

Fiance has been mashing the login button trying to get in to Adamantois for the last while. Hate to say it, but if they don't add some sort of measure against this crap, we likely won't be around after this week, as good as this game is. That said, I hope they do, I want a reason to keep playing. Right now its like Black Friday at a walmart in the US, complete and utter chaos.
I will admit to AFKing on the servers. My wife and I haven't been able to get into the game throughout all of Early Access. Finally - I managed to sneak us in after a patch/crash. My wife was at work and we play together. So, I was incentivized to AFK both of us until she got home. Then we played for four hours and logged. The way it is now - I have to log in ASAP and stay on in order to enjoy the game. I'm sorry that I cheated two people out of some play time - but it was what I had to do so that my wife and I could enjoy at least four hours of Early Access. Don't blame me - blame the system.
Their arguement would be piss-poor at best. WoW has an afk auto-kick feature, and nobody complains. Funny how Yoshi used WoW as inspiration and yet his people left that out.
I agree that there should be an AFK timer in the game. It's only fair.

I am not sure I feel the desire to give my money to a company that is too stupid to implement two things that are blatant common sense. Login queues and afk kick timers. I went and made characters on other servers because the server of my choice is full. I now have characters on 3 servers. The only one I can log into is the one in Japan.
Please Square-Enix. Explain to me why you deserve my money?
Every modern MMO has an auto kick feature. Christ even FFXI had a default auto kick, granted you could turn it off but it was there and on by default. The auto kick is there to do stop what exactly is happening now. And I don't blame people for staying logged in at this point. If I was able to get in and play on my main server I would. Oh well back to playing FFVII on steam.
The first indication I had that SE still had their head up their collective anus is when they designed the game to be multi-platform. Other MMO companies wouldn't dare doing something so stupid as to design a game around a seven year-old console. This is just another topping on their incompetence sundae.I am not sure I feel the desire to give my money to a company that is too stupid to implement two things that are blatant common sense. Login queues and afk kick timers. I went and made characters on other servers because the server of my choice is full. I now have characters on 3 servers. Over the weekend I was slightly irritated by the multitude of maintenance occurrences. Today, one can't come soon enough. Since there's no auto-disconnect and it doesn't look like SE is going to have a concrete solution (or even action plan towards a solution) anytime soon, I leave my ability to play the game in the hands of whoever is responsible for scheduling a maintenance to get rid of some AFKers. I did an hour of 000000000 spam already and have other things to do with my life now than a 2nd hour of it so I asked my friends in the game to text me when there's a maintenance announcement.
Please, something break.
Ironic how in 1.0 I had no issues logging in but couldn't play the game and in 2.0 I had no issues playing the game (when I can log in) but can't log in.
