Black Screen

Anyone else having any issues with your screen going black and having to reboot the computer?

Both on Saturday and Sunday I had issues where after about 45 minutes of playing suddenly my screen just went black and I get a message on the monitor saying "signal lost". I could still hear the FF music playing in the backgroud but there was no way to bring the game back up. The only thing I could do was force shut down the machine and reboot.

I'm not sure if it's an overall hardware issue or something related to FF. Prior to FF I played WoW up until July and never had any issue with getting a black screen.

I'm running Windows vista with a NVida Geforce 9800 video card and 6mb RAM. After the issue Saturday I made sure my graphic settings were all turned down to low, but I still had the black screen Sunday. I also made sure my video drivers were all updated.

Any help is appreciated.

this seems to be a hardware problem. your graphics card is way outdated and it would probably be a good idea to upgrade. generally your screen will go black like that usually due to your Graphics card overheating. also you're running vista which uses waaayyyy too much processor power to run and is probably adding to the problem. i would upgrade my Operating system and Graphics card. i got a Nvidia GT 630 a few months back for around 80 dollars and it runs FF14 nicely, i'm also running windows 7 - i'd recommend getting that.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I know my rig is old. I need upgrades badly, however it's been performing well for every other game that has come down the pipe from Guild Wars 2, to SWTOR to RIFT, etc. The only problem I seem to have is FF XIV.
