How many dungeons do you have to go through for the main storyline quests?

I'm pretty new at MMORPGs, and the few times I've played in a group in other MMOs I typically get yelled at for not being an expert at what I'm doing, despite having told them that I am new, and that I DON'T know exactly what I'm doing. I do fine solo, mostly, and I enjoy talking to others in these games, just not partying with them. I would like to know how many times I'll be forced into a group to get through the main storyline. Can anyone tell me?

You have to group up quite a few times, but you shouldn't be too worried about it. The game eases you into this stuff with the class quests and the early dungeons are simple enough and allow newbies to practice working in a group. The difficulty gradually increases but by that point you should have a grasp on what you need to do in a group.

Most of us don't mind helping out new players and the new players are a vast majority so you shouldn't run into any jerks in the newbie dungeons unless they are intentionally trolling.

That many huh? Like the OP I do my best work in games soloing quest and not having to do the "Party" Scene. I am used to the dungeons be a side thing rather than part of the main quest line.

at least you dont have to shout and wait for it thanks to duty finder. PLUS, you will never be at a stand still since quests should bring you everywhere and get your enough levels, so will FATEs and leves etc.

just play the way u wanna play :3 people should b nice enough to respect that ur new n not b ehemms about it u find find majority of final fantasy community r really nice freindly n helpful people :3 but as always there will b a few trolls/ehemms hovering around thinking they r better then every1 else :P

Hatali is a dungeon quest you must talk to and NPC in Thanalan.
It's not apart of the main storyline.
