An apology without action to mend the situation is an empty apology. This is really bad start to a "reborn" game, because here I am giving this a second chance.

Apology not accepted.
Get the Na/EU servers sorted out now. Once again faced with the World Full try again later bs hour after hour.
Have you any idea how many people will be hitting the enter key over and over, trying to get in? Players like myself who have leveled their main on a server that is now off limits to them.
You are absolutely hopeless, and like others, I am a player giving you the benefit of the doubt after the original effort you dumped out.
Worst launch debacle for years. Compared with something like the Rift launch, you are complete rank amateurs.
Chances of a sub - zero.

I managed to have no problems last night after the latest maintenance, and look forward to continuing today. It says to me that work IS being done, and they wouldn't be able to provide a satisfactory explanation until they know what it takes/took to fix the issue. The details they gave on the previous spots of downtime was very important to me.

I am very sorry that some of us are unhappy with the level of access to the game and I join with Square Enix and all of their staff in apolgizing for the delays, I too have experienced them. But as I have posted here and elsewhere, after having been a beta tester, associate and researcher of many many MMOs for many years, there is not one that has not had similar challenges in adapting to the peak load of demand. If you remember that each such game is made up of billions of lines of code, each one essential and many inter related. Then to add the impact of estimated stress vs real stress on the gates and switches and paths of the vast story, plus the trillions of actions by the NPCs, and other game elements, it is pure alchemy really that it all works. Now we have this wonderful new game, one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, and a HUGE and I mean VASTLY HUGE number of people have come to play it, both in the US, EU and Japan. Peak loads have far exceeded estimates. They were working like demons to get it all up to the demand. You may have missed this latest note from the community staff:
I am sure within a few days, the blockage and locking of characters, and closing of worlds at times will be relieved and we can all enjoy this wonderful gift.Regarding Preparations to Increase the Capacity of our Data Centers
Hello everyone,
We've noticed not just a few threads on this, and comments from many players, and so wanted to be sure to clear up a sincere misunderstanding regarding the recent announcement to up the capacity of our data centers:

The first half of the announcement regarding login and character creation restrictions was directed towards our players who would be playing during peak hours in Japan data center Worlds.
However, the second half of the announcement regarding increasing the capacity of our data centers was meant to also encompass North American and European data center Worlds and not just be limited to Japan data center Worlds.
We deeply apologize for causing concern amongst the North American and European community due to our lack of clarity. Capacity will be increased for data centers in all regions.
Once again, thank you for your understanding and cooperation to help us welcome more players to the game.
As mentioned in the previous announcement that this clarification refers to, this process is looking to be finalized come early next week and we will keep you updated once we hear more about its implementation. Thank you very much for your patience while attempting to login to the game.
I am hopeful that those of you unhappy now, who can bear to wait and allow for the adjustments, will still be with us. If not, I am sorry. But there is no way anyone can do better, this is one of the finest staff efforts I have ever seen and the transparency and the candor of the communication is literally unknown among major developers, I can assure you. I sense the greatest integrity and sincerity at the Staff, to the very top. So please hang on there and keep with us. thank you. And it is always good to vent and share, but do lets keep it courteous and kind. I value all the comments i see and value highly all of our diverse and huge community.
And a final word, never before have I seen the Producer and Lead of a major Game Development Team take responsibility and be as forethright and candid and visible as Yoshi San. We are very fortunate, and I hope that you will take his sincerity for real, and stay with us just a little bit longer.
Domo.

You know apologies are great and all but that letter didn't seem to address the problem. Also, it would go a long way if, instead of just an apology, they reimbursed us in some way or give us something for our troubles like the developers of Defiance did whenever there was a problem.

It has been confirmed that they are adding more servers to all data centers not just Japan.

In a situation involving a huge MMO entering active service, there is rarely ONE problem. It is similar to the cascade effect of incidents with high technology machines like airplanes, infrastructure systems, and mega computers....many small events that result in a larger one. In this case, tho each part of the vast array may be fine individually, when the stress of the mega impact of hundreds of thousands of players many of whom create multiple characters immediately all hit the system structure, it is akin to geothermal or electrical discharge, the current itself can generate anomalies that did not exist before and which skilled teams can fix often quite quickly.... which I think is what is part of what is happening here...and also guessing again, just the sheer size of the demand...which none of us can really guestimate is stretching everything hugely.
We do not know what decisions they may make around this period of challenge, but my feeling is that they will do their best for us all. Of that I am sure.

Actions speak louder then words & so far I have seen the situation getting worse. Before nobody can log into NA/EU servers. Now nobody can log into Japan servers.
I will accept your apology once I can get into my server without having to see the 1017 error screen for the 999999th time.

What I have been trying to share for old and new players both, when challenged by some of the log on delays, is that this is something no one wished to happen....and it is not really useful to blame anyone, for no one did this on purpose. It is a result of Yoshi San and team making a absolutely wonderful game that we all would like to see....and now because so many of us do wish so, it will take time to make more room at the table. We really should not make anyone feel badly over this, rather lets offer our support and understanding and compassion and cheer them on and encourage each otherAll are doing their best so lets do ours too.

Ok an apology is great and I really appreciate the time taken to actually do so. I also like that they are adding new servers and hardware.
However, to say that this is unexpected and surprising and that the company had no way to forecast this level of demand is at best poor management and at worst a total lie. All the people trying to log on during the early access are people who pre-ordered, that means there is a record of the sale and that SE should have been able to look at a spreadsheet of figures and see this coming.
For us to now have to wait another full week before any kind of improvement is likely to occur is not a great move, people are going to try for 3-5 days to log in and when they can't they will think SE haven't fixed any of the problems and stop playing. This will not be a good thing as SE run the risk of FFXIV going to same way as the v1 release. After all, what good are all the fixes and improvements to the game play if no one can log in to see them.
