Voice Acting - I Like It!

When I first entered A Realm Reborn I was at first uncomfortable with the voice acting as many others were.

After progressing through the story line though - I find myself really starting to like the voice acting. Each voice has a character of its own and I am now putting them comfortably to the character they represent.

With the fabulous lore being portrayed through these wonderful actors - I am becoming engrossed in the story line more than ever.

I know some folks prefer subbed anime over dubbed, but being a true dubbed fan - I find these voice actors to be of Funimation quality.

Lots have changed in Eorzea but I think these changes will become familiar and welcomed in due time - they are to me^^

I personally couldn't stand the English voice acting. So I've changed it to the Japanese voice acting with English subtitles. I know the subtitles are wrong, as I understand some of the Japanese voice overs, but there's a lot more emotion in their voices than their English counterparts.

I'm puzzled about some things though. The voice acting seems ok and all that, from what I've heard. It just seems like there isn't much of it. I'm level 20 right now and have done most of the quests. I've only had maybe 3 scenes that had voice over.

The beginning where the male voice is describing Gridania. The CNJ quest where you first meet Papalymo and Yda (spelling?) and one of the scenes with Kan-E-Senna. That's it. Some of the scenes seem like they would have voice overs, like other scenes with Kan-E. I'm I missing something? =(

Oh, when do you get to hear her talk? Granted I've only really seen her during the envoy type mission, but that one didn't have voice for me.

I don't want to spoil anything. I will say you have the best odds of getting the most voice cutscenes with Merlwyb if your character starts in Limsa Lominsa.

I know what you mean. I actually thought something was wrong with my game because what they were saying doesn't match up with the English text at all sometimes. It's a heavily localized translation. Nothing wrong with that, but you kinda have to choose if you want to listen to the Japanese or read the English. It's hard to keep up with both O_O

Yda's and Papalymo's voice acting grated on my ears when I first heard them. I miss their 1.0 voices to be honest, but I really love Kuplo's new voice (sounds like Mokona from xxxHolic to me).
