Quests are far too generic and boring

So far from what I have played much of the quests and main story quests feel very dull, uninspired and generic... of course it is too late for that now but for a subscription based game you would expect more and especially from a Final Fantasy game, give me the old FFXI main story quests any day over this.

The introduction of the game was painfully slow and boring, you should be using this to grab peoples attention not bore them to tears, even skipping the chat bubbles is a chore.

I'm torn. I love the game and I feel like the story throughout the quests is very engaging and exciting. Unfortunately, it's all too often that the uninspired objectives cause the quests to feel like they're dragging on forever. I've always been big into games' lore, so in a sense the lengthy storyline is a dream come true for me. I get exactly what floats my boat with each of the game's many quests, so the payoff is always worth it to me. I just wish that they didn't make the story feel like such a chore to progress.

And I'm not saying that I want story progression handed to me on a silver platter. I don't mind investing time into a game. I wouldn't be playing an MMO if I did. I'd simply like that time to be spent doing something more fun than riding a chocobo back and forth between zones in order to deliver a dozen messages for two hours between each the story's few challenging fights. I've been logged in through all of Beta 4 and all of early access with only a few hours of sleep during those periods, and yet even as the quests approach level 30 I'm still spending more time gathering items from sparkly checkpoints on the ground in the middle of towns than I'm spending actually fighting or doing something that feels meaningful. I overlooked things feeling introductory during beta because it was low level. Beginning quests are supposed to be that way. But this far in? The gameplay really needs to pick up at some point.
