Job quest class requirements

The following classes are available upon creating a brand new character; requires only the base game Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn to be registered to the service account:

Starting city-state: Gridania
—Lancer (melee DPS)
—Archer (physical ranged DPS)
—Conjurer (healer)

Starting city-state: Ul’dah
—Gladiator (tank)
—Pugilist (melee DPS)
—Thaumaturge (magical ranged DPS)

Starting city-state: Limsa Lominsa
—Marauder (tank)
—Arcanist (magical ranged DPS)
—Rogue* (melee DPS)

*NOTE: Rogue requires players to have a level 10 Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic in order to unlock. Players must complete their level 10 class quest in order to unlock the ability to join other guilds. Rogue is only available early on to players that start in Limsa Lominsa. Players that start in Ul’dah must start the Main Scenario Quest “The Ul’dahn Envoy” in order to unlock Limsa Lominsa. Players that start in Gridania must start the Main Scenario Quest “The Gridanian Envoy” in order to unlock Limsa Lominsa.



The following jobs are available upon reaching level 30 in the applicable Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic class. Players must first complete each applicable level 30 class quest, and complete the Main Scenario Quest “Sylph-management”. Only the base game is required to unlock these jobs:

—Paladin: Level 30 Gladiator required
—Warrior: Level 30 Marauder required
—White Mage: Level 30 Conjurer required
—Scholar: Level 30 Arcanist required**
—Monk: Level 30 Pugilist required
—Dragoon: Level 30 Lancer required
—Ninja: Level 30 Rogue required
—Bard: Level 30 Archer required
—Black Mage: Level 30 Thaumaturge required
—Summoner: Level 30 Arcanist required**

**NOTE: The Arcanist class splits into the magical ranged DPS Summoner and the healer Scholar at level 30. Both will be leveled simultaneously with one another; as a player levels one job, the other will level alongside it. Players have the option of unlocking both jobs once they have fulfilled the requirements for them, or just unlocking one; but the other cannot be leveled separately.



The following jobs are available upon reaching level 50 in any Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic, and upon reaching the city-state of Ishgard; requires the expansion Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward to be registered to the service account:

—Dark Knight (tank)
—Astrologian (healer)
—Machinist (physical ranged DPS)

All jobs can be unlocked in the city-state of Ishgard. Ishgard is unlocked to players in the Main Scenario Quest “Coming to Ishgard”.



The following jobs are available upon reaching level 50 in any Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic. There are no Main Scenario Quest requirements for unlocking these jobs (with the exception of Blue Mage; noted below); requires the expansion Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood to be registered to the service account:

—Samurai (melee DPS)
—Red Mage (magical ranged DPS)
—Blue Mage (Limited Job) (magical ranged DPS)***

Both Samurai and Red Mage can be unlocked in the city-state of Ul’dah.
Blue Mage can be unlocked in the city-state of Limsa Lominsa.

***NOTE: Blue Mage is a Limited Job, and requires the completion of the Main Scenario Quest “The Ultimate Weapon” to unlock. As a Limited Job, the job cannot currently progress past the level cap of 50 (soon to be changed to a level cap of 60 in Patch 5.1), and has various restrictions surrounding its gameplay. The following jobs are available upon reaching level 60 in any Disciple of War or Disciple of Magic. There are no Main Scenario Quest requirements for unlocking these jobs; requires the expansion Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers to be registered to the service account:

—Gunbreaker (tank)
—Dancer (physical ranged DPS)

Gunbreaker can be unlocked in the city-state of Gridania.
Dancer can be unlocked in the city-state of Limsa Lominsa.
