I know it’s been a little over a year since this was posted, but I don’t know if it was changed or not, but currently SAMURAI & RED MAGE only require LVL 50 in any DoW or DoM to Unlock them.
I know I\\'m rezzing a VERY old thread, but I was searching for job requirements on Google and this was one of the top results, so I better update this:
As of 4.0 (Stormblood), the secondary class requirement has been removed. You only have to level the base job to 30 to be able to unlock their respective jobs. Still somewhat beneficial to level another class to use some of their roles on your main (like the cooldowns that come in handy for tanks, and please correct me if this is even necessary to do because I\\'m not completely sure if they changed this, too), but you are no longer required to level them.
I think you do have to complete the MSQ Sylph Management, though, to begin them.
So, new list as of 4.0:
- Bard = 30 Archer
- Summoner = 30 Arcanist
- Scholar = 30 Arcanist
- Dragoon = 30 Lancer
- Black Mage = 30 Thaumaturge
- White Mage = 30 Conjurer
- Monk = 30 Pugilist
- Warrior = 30 Marauder
- Paladin = 30 Gladiator
- Ninja = 30 Rogue
NOTE: Rogue is not an available starting class in the game as it was introdeuced in a patch. It is available to unlock once you get another DoW or DoM class to level 10.
The following have no bass class requirements. However, you need to be level 50 in a Disciple of War or Magic (doesn\\'t matter which one), have the HeavensWard expansion, and have access to Ishguard (where the starting job quests are located).
- Dark Knight
- Astrologian
- Machinist
