Dzemael darkhold hard? I heard many stories before I entered it. And coming from 1.0, I expected this to be as much(if not more) of a pain to complete. Only to win the entire instance on my first try with no wipes. I found it all to be quite easy to be honest. BUT! It was still fun and I enjoyed myself.

Also, I was a pld tank. And I've tanked every instance up to dzemael darkhold either as warrior or pld. Even did the main storyline. All of those instances + battles I cleared on my first try and every time with random people found on duty finder.

I only ended up losing an instance for the very first time yesterday. When attempting to do Wanderer's palace. Cleared every boss with ease but ended up failing at the Tonberry fight. Honestly I don't believe that killing all the tonberries is the key to winning that fight...

Easy?! I thought the boss at the end of Copper Mines was brutal.

You have to understand that for veteran mmorpg gamers, we tend to pick up quick on boss mechanics. Most if not all bosses comes down to the following things

    - Proper positioning
    - A good tank
    - Doing the right thing at the right time or following orders

    Take copperbell mines boss.
If you tank the giant near(but not right next to it!) the 2nd cracked wall. You allow for the DD classes to deal damage the entire time and only to switch targets when the smaller giant is near the 2nd cracked wall. Positioning the boss near the wall, makes the trip between the giant trying to break the wall and the boss very short. Also the trick is to kill the smaller giants asap and to move back asap to the main boss.

A good tank will also position the boss so that his conal swing is always aimed away from the rest of the party.

This kind of reasoning is getting a bit old. If I made a game where you could run through the whole thing with your eyes closed, but added one super hard boss at the end, that would be perfectly fine? Of course not.

Don't get me wrong, it's great that endgame gets more challenging. But it doesn't change the fact that most of the battle content that comes before (I can only judge it up to level 35) is boring me to tears. And that's without cross-class skills and for the most part without exceeding the minimum level requirements. I'm sure some are already getting ready to answer: "Oh, it's still only level 35!", but that's just the same nonsense. The time it takes to reach level 35 in this game without skipping or rushing through content is enough to finish other games three times over. It would certainly be more than enough to build up a somewhat challenging difficulty level and let go of the players' hand already.

I guess part of the reason that I don't have to think at all during combat is that I'm playing arcanist, which - at least for solo content - seems to be a bit overpowered. Oftentimes I can actually go afk during battle and let carby handle it. But I still feel like the lackluster difficulty is holding the game back for a lot of people. Difficulty settings with appropriate rewards would be a great addition.

Furthermore, you are playing a DD which means you can actually fall asleep, you are pretty irrelevant for the success. For all I care you are dealing sub par DPS and being carried by tanks and healers while claiming the game is too easy.

I am an active raider in wow with significant progress and I do not think the game is easy at all, maybe because I play in Europe which implies significant delay and I play WHM.

Why do you think I (and many others) ask for difficulty settings? An option for those who are familiar with this kind of game or simple able to grasp the concepts much faster?

edit: Oh, and I was obviously referring to solo battles, which appear to make up a good 90% of the battle content before reaching endgame. I'm not some kind of asshat who would let other players do all the work during dungeon runs. But why do I even bother - your statement that the performance of DDs is irrelevant to the success of a party speaks volumes of your incomprehension of how this game works.

last I checked healers and tanks dont do the carrying its the DPS that do the work for tanks and healers, they are also support but play an important role, have you even ever played a game before? I suppose the simple fact you come from wow is clear as day to the simplicity of your skill as a player and logic to grasp basic aspects of played considering wow is a joke no wonder you believe the game to be hard you never even played a real game with difficulty FFXI would make you rage quit. Well difficulty slider may be implemented so I will have real difficulty not by your scrub standards but I do hope you use the slider too and understand the difference in game play.
