The PS3 Display Problem

I was having the same problem on my 42" Samsung TV.

There are no options in my TV's menu to make it look ok (I have 16:9, 4:3 and Zoom - all of which fail). Frustrated, I searched the forums hard and found this gem, which I believe isn't included in your list above:



So changing your PS3's output, not from 16:9 to 4:3, but from exclusively 1080 to include 720. Fixed it for me; hope it fixes it for you!

I have 32" HDTV with HDMI and have tried all solutions, have double checked and 720 is checked and included, yet I still have the same issue as everyone else here. It's definitely not any settings on my TV as I've been through them with a fine comb and nothing I have chosen has fixed the issue. Also have tried changing settings on my PS3 and that's a no go. I'm sure I've read in the forums somewhere that there was mention that they were going to fix it at some point but I could be wrong. Trouble is there's so many multiple complaint threads that threads like these disappear so quickly...

Would also love to hear whether this issue is going to be addressed!

You might have mistaken the HUD menu re-sizing for a general re-sizing of the display. Basically each individual HUD window will be able to be made bigger or smaller, in addition to being able to be moved. I think this is already implemented, but I don't mess with it, seeing as it doesn't help. Let it be known this will not have an effect on fixing the display and being able to see entire picture on all four edges properly.

I think this is already implemented, but I don't mess with it, seeing as it doesn't help. No, I don't think so! I knew about the HUD re-sizing and although it doesn't sort the overscan out, the HUD resizing has helped somewhat for me. Still when info pops up, I can't read the entire message as it's cut off, so I know what you mean about re-sizing the HUD not helping in that regard.

It could even have been on the beta forums that I read this, I just can't remember. It wasn't a definite "yes they're going to fix it" but I'm pretty sure someone mentioned somewhere that it was something SE might look into!

I love being able to switch from PC and PS3, and yes the graphics aren't as good as the PC but that doesn't bother me, it's the fact that I can't read the entirety of the pop-up messages, and would really like to get some official confirmation as to whether this will be sorted in a later update. I can wait, just wanna know!!

I am also suffering the same problems and am hopeful SE can give us the option to size our screens. Doesn't seem like that would be difficult to implement.

I think you have sorely missed my point. You originally commented about you reading there was a fix? And I was saying that perhaps you misread and that the fix you thought was forthcoming was actually just the HUD window re-size option, which clearly is not a fix.

And I think you're missing what I'm saying! I said that no, I don't think it was that, I remember reading about this (possibly on the beta forums) and someone said that they'd read/heard that SE would possibly look at sorting the display for PS3 at a later date. Sorry if I'm confusing you, but unfortunately the beta forums are no longer accessible so I cannot find the post that I remember reading it on!

And I'll re-confirm that it would be good if we could have an official response from SE as to whether they are planning to fix it!
