Thread for couples. Playing FXIV: ARR with your significant other.

While we're all waiting for emergency maintenance to end, I wanted to get a shout out from all the folks playing with there girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, husband, fiance, life partner, etc. Try to get our minds off of the negativity we are all feeling toward this rocky launch. I just convinced my fiance to join me on the game and so far we are (or were before the server issues) having a good time progressing together.

We started in Gridania, me as a lancer and her as an archer and are currently trying to get through our first 10 levels. Not too far, I know but I really enjoy doing the quests with her and ruining many a forest creature's day together.

Anyways, what are your experiences? Good, bad? Anything that made it particularly special or challenging?

My wife and I are leveling together. Couldn't get into our normal server so we started new character's on a different NA server with no problem earlier today. Hit 15 right before maintenance. We played WoW together also. It's a good way to spend time together, our computers are right next to each other so we can easily tell each other whatever needs to be done in the fighting situation we're in. Or pointers on solo instances etc. It's fun.

My boyfriend and I are playing together. We got rid of our separate desks to buy a two-person workstation table so that we can sit next to each other, too. It's nice that we both play - it's been my experience that it's both or neither when it comes to couples and MMO playing (when it's more than just a couple hours a week).

Moon Dragon and I live and love and game together. We are loving ARR, even though we never played the other online versions of FF.

She was on most of the day - I couldn't get in much, sadly, but we are both close to 20 so that is good!

We'll be looking for a fun guild on Behemoth! See you all in game - eventually, if not for "early access".

Yeah, I play on my laptop and she plays on her big screen on ps3. We sit on the couch next to each other. She is a gamer, but has never played an MMORPG before. So far though she has caught on quick and is shaping up to be more obsessed with the game than me. Can't wait to get to new areas and dungeon runs. ^^

We've met in 1.0 not long after launch and it took half a year to get together. We got Legacy together, did everything together and it was the best time ever. Eorzea was our special place. We had many plans for the real future, for ARR, buying us a nice home and picking up our stories. But for reasons that are beyond my understanding, a few days ago it suddenly ended. I considered my better half the love of my life and it feels like I can't play ARR anymore. I have abandoned my Legacy character and made others, but everything reminds me and nothing is fun anymore without my beloved one.

I know this is supposed to be a happy thread, but this kinda stuff happens and sometimes games affect our lives so much. So if problems occur, be open and give each other time before dropping everything just like that. Love is the most precious and delicate thing we have. It should be taken care of as best as possible. I wish you lovers all the best, great adventures and a bright future.

My boyfriend and I are both playing together. We love the game! Being able to game together helps out a lot, especially during instances. Queuing is a breeze since we created a Healer/Tank Duo.

As a side note, I actually found the crafting/gathering skills a lot more enjoyable than expected. If you haven't looked into them yet, you guys might want to give them a go.

My husband and I too play together. wew also have one of those 2-person work tables and sit next to eachother. I too believe that playing the same game helps alot, especially when both enjoy the game. Even if both individuals are gamers, if they constantly do different things, it won't be THAT much different than two people where one plays games, and one doesn't. I think it would be more difficult however to be with someone who didn't play games at all, as they tend to not understand why gamers enjoy playing games, try to force you to quit, and so on. So I am very happy to have my husband who plays the same games with me.
