SE didn't had high expectations for FFXIV?

Is it possible that Square Enix didn't really have high expectations from their own game? To me it seems like they didn't really expect many players from NA and EU. While Japan got 25 Server, EU got only 6 and NA got 19 furthermore NA and EU server seems to be in the same location. And now they even limit the logins for EU and NA Server even further.

Looking at those Server Numbers and current problems it seems SE didn't really wanted to compete in the EU and NA MMORPG Market or not confident enough in their own game.

Is there any hope that they upgrade and increase the Server Number for EU and NA?

I think this is the case as well. I think they underestimated just how many people would actually log in. I think the 3102 errors people got during phase 4 may have been just enough to prevent these other issues from showing up due to many not being able to play. It's pretty clean server capacity will have to be increased. People are not going to take "world full" messages for a the duration of the game.

yeah, they underestimated, but I don't know if that's a "bad" thing (in the big picture). 25 servers is not a bad start, way more than many MMO's before it. Honestly, a server is expensive and, while more is better, if they had done, say, 30 servers but only enough people to fill 15, it would have caused huge losses for them. It will resolve itself soon enough

Why don't they virtualize there launching servers? Thats what like, EVERY single gaming company does that runs servers, than over a couple years after they stabalize there numbers and are able to see how many people play they can bring there own servers in house.

Can't argue with that. i don't know much about that process, but I can tell you, as someone who has gone through countless day 1 MMO's, server issues is the #1 problem. Even games that are not MMO's but require online for some important reason have this problem.

I just wonder what they're doing about it at this very moment. I'm sure they're working hard on fixing it, but what that fix is, I'm very curious.

    THIS SO MUCH

If they don't want to spend money on hardware that won't be necessary after the initial rush, then at least rent some servers. If AWS is good enough to run Reddit, Netflix, Instagram and a million other things at the same time, it could handle this load...

I agree i think we blew out there expectations. I think i can understand though, after a disaster initial launch (1.0) i would err on the side of caution, order on the lower end of fore casted subscriptions, and go from there. Also i think a lot of us actually ponied up for the game after p4 so they didnt have a lot of reaction time to adjust those estimates before ea. Itll work itself out just a pain in the butt for now.
