    No, I don't think that's the intent, but it may be the result. Even worse, as some are predicting, it may become a new form of grinding (make gear, wear it for affinity, destroy and harvest for socketing materials).

    The main premise of Materia is the same, where it comes from and certain subtleties are different. Again i will use the word "magic" that is found in every game these days, the term usually means the same thing, however where the magic comes from and other subtleties are different from game to game. I really don't see you having any logical grounds to dispute the name other than "its in FF7, and that is where it belongs". The term Materia is not tied down to just FF7 so i don't see the point of arguing this any further.

    Again just because one game uses a term and creates a deep back ground story behind it, dose not mean the word is struck from gaming terminology libraries; if the word fits use it.
