    Problem:
Crafters may be able to double dip profits from this system, enjoying steady sales of their over-produced crap and charging ridiculous prices for materia inlaying and HQ inlaying.
    Solution
Emphasize crafters' primary economic benefit to be to increase demand for their undesired final product production, not primarily from profit from materia activity.

Thus, I don't want to see any crafters blowing +3 weapons on the best materia outcomes. I'd be okay with the only meaningful $$$$$$$$$$$$ that crafters see from this system for their services is a tip for their time. The resulting gear is not going to be sellable anyway.

If they refuse to craft your materia into a weapon, I know I will do it for nothing. Your mats. You bought that weapon from me. That was my benefit.

Crafters are going to rage at that statement, but really they're already benefitting from materia even if they never synth materia synths. People buy those weapons armor and tools to destroy. They get business. They already get their reward.

You can't have crafters double dipping this system by both enjoying people buying their NQ +1 and +2 crap AND taking heavy profits from inlaying materia into things.

    One or the other.
This is why I hope the "Materia Sloting" Process is just like the Repair System Put it in your bazaar as a "Materia Slotting" It asks for what materia, you pick it, it asks what you want to give a a bonus for the user to do it. You pick 5k. The first crafter to see it and fuse it gets 5k you get the slotted item.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

This system isn't exactly new or inventive or fresh either. TERA's (now scrapped) crafting/upgrade system basically did the same thing. You took gear, any gear whether farmed, boss drops, world drops ect, and broke it down into a craftable mat and then upgraded other gear with it to make +1 to +9 gear. You lost the original piece of gear in the process to upgrade the new piece of gear. To get close to +9 gear (the best in the game) you would need incredibly rare weapons/armor which could take forever to get, just to upgrade another piece of armor.
Nobody thought this was a new concept and nobody cares about TERA.

they shouldnt link better materias to HQs. it would only make people hate NQs more, at best the should make it give slightly better chances at the same results. HQ has 10% chance to make a HQ materia versus NQ 8% chance.

That's hilarious because 2-3 pages back people were praising this for being fresh and inventive. I know plenty of people who care about MMOs that are released with 5-6 Dungeons, PVP, contemporary battle system, World NMs and 100x more content than XIV at release.

No ones been praising this as being inventive. They've been praising it for being an interesting system that brings some Nostalgia back to the game.

Another question I have is about the relative rate of creating materia (i.e. rate of attachment points added to gear) versus the drop rate of the catalyst needed to attach said materia.

This relative rate is what will determine whether or not gatherers get screwed once again.

If the catalyst can be gathered at a higher rate then the materia can be produced, prices for said catalysts will be LOW.

That said, if everyone fills up their slots fast enough, the demand for both the materia AND the slotting catalyst will be low, anyhow.

I think this is the only viable long term solution. Thus, you pay the price for whatever you think a NQ, +1, +2, or +3 weapon is worth to damage with, not what it could potentially turn into materia-wise. Otherwise yes. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Bad: NQ Toothed falchion turns into STR+5. +1 Toothed falchioin turns into ATT+4 more often. Toothed Falchion+2 turns into double attack+1% more often. Toothed Falchion+3 turns into Double attack+2% more often.

NQ Toothed falchion goes from trash...to even worse trash. No one is going to pay a cent for that ****.

Everyone here does but what's this have anything to do with the materia system exactly?
