    Thanks Bayohne / FF XIV Team.

    It's too early right now, but this bit of information certainly gives us hope. I think the fun and excitement will be in seeing what combinations you personally enjoy / want to have.

    It also adds a lot of variety to the game. I could see scenarios where you have:

    (Simple examples)

    * Iron Scutum w/ VIT +5 Materia
    vs.
    * Iron Scutum w/ Counterattack 10% Materia

    Which one is better? I guess it depends on the player. And even with the "forbidden technique" of attaching 2 Materia (instead of 1), would you rather have:

    * Iron Scutum w/ VIT +5 Materia *and* Counterattack 10% Materia
    or
    * Iron Scutum w/ VIT +5 Materia *and* VIT +5 Materia
    or
    * Iron Scutum w/ Counterattack 10% Materia *and* Counterattack 10% Materia

    If nothing else, it's going to make Items and FF XIV more interesting and fun.

    I don't think removing materia should destroy it. I'd like if you were able to learn spells and or abilities from materia like FFVII, or especially job traits. But really, please keep calling it Materia, and please make the "crystals" spherical and look like the materia of FFVII.

    Actually, I really hope this isn't like synergy in FFXI, I REALLY hope it's not like augments, make it so you can craft specific materia and allow for combinations to unlock new effects. I don't care for randomness on my gear.

    The term "fluctuations" concerns me and makes me think of the completely random nature of XI's Augments and the general uselessness of most Evoliths.

    I think you need to establish a general baseline benefit from these (i.e. half of all stat values) and the fluctuations are positive bonuses above and beyond that.

    If later on we're talking about traits ala Bird Killer, etc. those can be HQ and harder to obtain as long as there is still some benefit from the NQ one.

    Here is my feedback:

    First of all this is awesome. I have to say thie devs have outdone themselves with this approach to materia.
    Secondly, Keep the name Materia.

    I also have an indirect bit of feedback that I'm also putting in that new repair thread.
    Crafters are worried about being relevant. From what I have read, Bam! problem solved.
    Now that crafters will have a never ending source of usefulness and most likely gil, this gives the devs the perfect opportunity to get rid of or greatly reduce the rate of durability or other ideas involving increasing convenience of repairs such as repair kits and more NPCs that repair all gear, etc etc.

    Reminds me of something my wife was talking about with a problem crafters outside alchemy and cooking face in XI and XIV currently, and that is this: When you sell an item you make (armor or weapon), selling to one person is no problem. After that person buys the item once, though, the seller hasta wait for a new buyer to buy more of that item. However, potions and food have no problem selling to the same person over and over, and that's even a common thing, as alot of people often use that same item over and over.

    I think people are not reading this post and understanding it and i also think that the wording is not correct. Why do people keep thinking u craft materia when it states that u use gear accumulate points then convert those points into materia THEN YOU GET A CRAFTER TO ATTACH IT TO GEAR. On the otherhand the part about coverting the gear/points into materia is not concise enough ;is it that u convert gear into materia after u accumulate enough points?! ; do you lose your gear entirely at the expense of gaining materia?! or do u just lose the accumulated points and gain a materia item in inventory. If you lose your gear entirely then i wonder what the reasoning skills of the development team is rofl.

    BAYOHNE you need to answer this lol.

    he did, maybe he didnt fix the description that well, you convert your gear into materia after reaching full attachment, and thus lose your gear entirely.
