Creating multiple characters on the same server.

I did a search of the forums and could not find out if you can create multiple characters on the same server. I have a character to play by myself but want to create another to play with my wife. On the character select screen it says 1/8 but when I tried to make another one it said I can not create another character on the server with this account. Will I be able to create one when the game goes live on the 27th?

Theres really zero need for multiple characters, ur character can be all jobs, if ur wife plans to play in grid, well thers 2 other classes u can play, if your wife wants to start in uldah then zip over too grid and create a class there rush to 15 get airplane, then play with your wife on another class.

I think you gotta pay a dollar more for more characters added in a single server.

if you pay the $12.99 one you get 1 character per server and can make a total of 8 characters.

if you pay the $14.99 one you get 8 characters per server and can make a total of 40 characters.

if you are legacy you pay $9.99, you get 8 characters per server and can make a total of 40 characters.

What you are seeing is that a lot of the NA/EU servers have been locked against folks creating new characters on that particular server, which stunk for folks like me who want to try all 8 classes before figuring out which one to adopt and bolt on (never played FFXIV) that and I roll characters based on my mood.

Well seeing as you can play any and all classes on any given character (after the Lv10 class quest you can go unlock other classes to play as) there really isn't a need to make more than one character to try things out on.

Yeah you can create as many characters on the same server as your account type allows.

Considering they keep locking char creation on servers and people cant even play with friends due to this, I would suggest NO ONE be making alt. chars AT ALL right now. It's just hurting other people's chance of getting onto a server with friends.

There isnt the room on the servers for NA/EU for everyone to make all of the characters they might dream of, for now...which is why they had to lock them for that, so enjoy what we CAN do and leave the huge fleet of characters for a future would make sense. ...since we want as many as possible to join us imho.

So you are telling me I could join ALL guilds and perfect every discipline with one character, without losing the full efficiency of any one class?
