There absolutely has to be a time out or nobody will leave to make room for others. I have seen people standing unmoving in the same place for five plus hours. There is no reason to not have a timer since you do not bazaar from your character like in FFXI (Which by default times out unless you change a setting) Quesu and full servers do not empty if people go to bed and stay logged in.
