I've been really really patient with all the issues that have been going on with FF also. But people seem to forget that money has already been spent by the customers for the game. They knew there were issues long before early access. They knew how many players wanted in during beta. They knew how many pre-ordered. They knew very well A LOT OF PLAYERS will be logging in. If they did not prepare for this they deserve what they are getting from frustrated customers.

So what now? They expect players to just fork up monthly subscription fees? That sounds a bit to smug and arrogant to me.

Although this whole thing really pisses me off, there's not much we can do besides returning the game. And, correct me if I'm wrong, software can only be returned if it's unopened (at least in California). And why does it piss me off? They had to know how many orders they were pre-selling, why not load test with those numbers? OR, is all this server load coming from people that bought it the day EA started (I doubt this)?

And guys, the fix won't come fast...It's all hardware. The hardware they have in place cannot sustain a heavy load. How do you fix it? Scale horizontally. And to do that, you need the servers shipped in, built and software installed. I'm guessing that, if they have a solid provider, they probably have the hardware onsite and in construction now. This'll give them one day to load it up, put them in rotation, load balance them and green light them for production.

Despite how pissed off I am about this cluster, I feel for the guys at SquEx....despite what everyone thinks, they're probably pulling 20 hour shifts trying to get everything running for everyone. It's a tough spot to be in for a developer. I can guarantee you that not a single SquEx employee is busting out the champagne and caviar at the moment with the train wreck hurtling down the tracks at them.
