To OP, yes there is a way to transfer servers. It's just not out yet.
I think SE said in mid September that option will be available.
So in the mean time just go ahead play on the server your on now and get the classes /requirements for whatever you want your character be . Then next month
You transfer your character over to your friend server.


As for server congestion, I find that it's usually only between peak hours. If you try to get on before or after peak hours, usually it's not much trouble to get in.

Servers are conjested because they won't boot the prolonged AFK people off. They are just taking up space, so the people who are actually awake or at home can't get in.

I can't help but think that most of the people on this thread are complete ignoramuses that simply do not understand how the development pipeline works. So yet me educate you.
Keep in mind that I too have not been able to play for days, and my ire meter is broken, twitching on the floor over there is a puddle of pure rage, so I get the frustration.

That being said, Square-Enix can't just twitch their nose and poof servers into existence. NOBODY STOCKS SERVERS!
Every server is custom built for purpose, which are not only expensive in and of themselves, but often times have a several year contract attached to them. And so they are tremendously expensive, so you only get them unless you absolutely sure your going to get full use out of them.
Obviously SE low balled their estimation of their player base, massively so, and believe me they are in a mad rush to get thous servers built and hooked up as soon as possible.

But even at a break neck pace, we are looking at anywhere from one to two weeks, unless they already had some on the way. And people bitching and crying is not going to make things go any quicker otherwise it would already have been fixed by now. So get comfortable, this will take some time.


What people should be doing instead, is asking for compensation when they eventually do get this fixed.
Because the brass tax is that we paid for a service, one in which SE is currently unable to provide, and we should not be expected to eat that cost, that is a complete violation of trust.
Once they are able to once again provide said service, it is encumbered upon them to do right by their customers that they have kept waiting. Giving us the full 30day of game time that we bought is the first step.
But it wouldn't hurt if they really wanted to win back our trust in them, as Yoshi-P declared that they did, then giving people a little extra something for the hassle wouldn't go amiss.

I totally agree ive been put in que's many times. (when i finally make it to a que.) Then get kicked sayin the sever is full is crap i wouldnt mind sitting in que instead of the repeatative button pushing to try and log in. I am having a hard time trying to justify playing this game if it takes them this log to fix a congestion problem. I also agree with the 15-20 min boots for afk people because that would be a quick fix to everyones problems.

It's so ridiculous how you have to keep your pc always on just to be logged in the game... I mean, can't they see what they are doing?? EVERYONE is just leaving the char AFK in the game, because no1 can log in after they are out, it's just so pathetic, our subscription is passing by and we can't even play...
Shouldn't be so hard to put an AFK-kick system, increase the server capacity and add Queue...

Does anyone know when they look at server load an open them open them up, is it random, have people noticed full servers open on quarter hours or half or whatever? This would really help with need to repetitively spam. IF new when the look at them we could try say every 15 minutes or whatever it is and if still full then know not to try again for another 15/30 mintues whatever the timing is on it. If it's random then guess just stuck spamming for life to get in. I'm try to notice when it opens up going forward and note any similarities between.

I was trying to log in and it opened right after a quarter hour 5:15 cst.... wonder if this evaluation is done every 15 minutes and opened up...
