Hey all,
I used to be part of the SE Apologist Squad during Beta 4... It was a Beta, and as such I expected problems and that the servers would have issues during what was essentially a stress test.
I am no longer a member of that part of our community, I have only been able to stay logged in for maybe 30 minutes since late in the first day of Beta 4. The game is going to go into full retail launch on Tuesday, though I don't expect a whole lot more players to come flooding in since it was so easy to get Early Access anyway.
Yes, this is an MMO Launch, I've been around for pretty much any major MMO since Everquest... and this is one of the worst, there have been worse, I'm not denying that, but this is one of the worst handled so far...
Even moreso when you consider that this is the SECOND time this game is launching, so Server capacity should not be an excuse, they KNOW from FFXI, and FFXIV 1.0 how many players the Final Fantasy name attracts... so they should have been able to build servers with the capacity needed to handle far more than these ones clearly can.
However, instead of throwing a tantrum and everything like a 6 year old in the supermarket. Or Cussing and telling the FFXIV Team to kill themselves... How about you do the one thing that Square will notice. Affect their bottom line.
Talk with your wallet, Cancel your pre-orders if you havent been charged, or get a refund if you have.
1. If you ordered from someplace like Amazon who hasn't charged you yet, cancel it.
2. If you paid with a Credit Card and have been charged full price, call them and reverse the charges for misrepresentation.
3. If you paid with Paypal, open a dispute in the resolution center stating that they have failed to deliver goods as promised.
Simple as that, as the pre-orders and purchases fall off and they start to lose money, Someone at Square will get the message and go into damage control mode.
I hate to say it because the Development team has made a damn fine product here, but they've been let down by the part of the team that handles the servers and technology side of things...
Clearly they don't really read these forums, so throwing your pity parties in public only proves that you only want attention from everyone and want to try and stir up a mob mentality... Grow up, put your money where your mouth is, and don't give Square your cash...
