Goddammit.. i wish this didn't sound like such a good idea. Tython it is. Time to ream the JP servers. Gotta get their attention some how... I have never had a problem logging on to a JP server. NO ERRORS! The reason - fewer players. I think that when all the NA/UK players figure this out and start playing on the JP servers and they start having problems - the NA/UK servers will get fixed! Don't wine about not being able to play - play on a JP server - flood them! Then they will fix the game!
PLEASE KICK AFK PLAYERS OUT!!!!
ALSO PUT IN A FREAKING QUEUE FOR EVERY LOG IN ATTEMPT...
WHAT WE HAVE NOW IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!

Let's all spam their phones too does anyone have a number to call?
I just tried five minutes ago and it wouldn't put me in a queue.
I know Diabolos is heavily populated, but sheesh...
So, it's happening to me as well.... I managed to play a whoopin' 8 hours....
Now, I like this game; I've been playing since beta phase 2, and I managed to convince some people to come over but if I can't play with them, or they with me, it's not gonna be worth the sub. Now, mind you, I absolutely LOVE this game, and I was expecting *some* issues but nothing on this scale....
So... I logged.... Oh no... Wait... Here comes the... God... 1017 again?

Yay i got in a queue finally wow now cross my fingers so i dont get kicked out
To those who have claimed that this is "normal" for an MMO launch, it most certainly is not!
Once upon a time this may have been true, but every single company that has had a bad MMO launch such as this are out of business and no longer around (with the solitary exception of Blizzard's WoW that definitely had a rocky launch yet somehow became the one-hit wonder/1000lb gorilla despite it all...but it is important to understand that they are a fluke that no one has been able to repeat in the MMO industry, so that is a rare solitary exception). With the MMO market so overly saturated with fierce competition there no longer remains room for Amateur-hour sloppiness as there once was in the mid to late 1990's. In the 21st century an MMO is expected to have worked out all the "game-stoppers" prior to the end of Closed Beta, and Open Beta is for final Stress Testing of your Hardware Infrastructure to ensure that it will be able to handle the increased load of "Land-Rush" at Official Launch. If it can't, then you use the data you accumulated during Open Beta to *LEASE* the appropriate number of extra *CLUSTERED* servers that you will need for "Land-Rush" (because after Land-Rush is over, you probably won't need that additional capacity and you certainly don't want to do Server Merges which are bad for many reasons). There should never be surprises or major game-stoppers at Launch, such as the inability to login to the game, because it is bad for customer satisfaction, loyalty, and publicity (all of which are critical as those first 90 days is critical to the financial success or failure of an MMO...especially when you consider that the average lifespan of a MMO subscription is only six months). That is how the professional Top-Tier AAA MMOs do business, knowing that in this day you have one shot with your MMO to make it, and there are dozens upon dozens of alternatives players can flock to if you fail.
If you think things are bad now, it is only going to get worse at "Official" launch. Square Enix isn't fixing the problem by limiting the number of logins. That is a temporary band-aid that is only going to make the problem significantly worse as things hemorrhage. If you can't login today, there is no way you are going to login in the next 30 days unless SE owns up and increases their Hardware Infrastructure to handle the increased load (hey, even just switching their Instance Service to use UDP instead of TCP would double it's capacity, just sayin').
The saddest part is that I really wanted SE to succeed. Their fan-base is obviously devoted to have given them a second chance. I was hoping to see them turn things around with ARR, but it appears they may have already blown it. How does that old saying go? Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice, shame on me. (Which is why the Japanese Servers aren't suffering the same fate as the NA/EU Servers...the Japanese are far less forgiving of mistakes and far less willing than Westerners to forgive and forget. They refuse to be shamed as SE had shamed themselves with the original FFXIV. As such, only the most otaku of the Japanese are playing, and the majority using the JP Servers are most likely NA/EU refugees.)
During P3 Beta I pre-ordered 3 copies of FFXIV:ARR (one for my gf, one for my daughter, and one for myself), of which none of us have been able to play after the first Early Access Maintenance. If Official Launch comes and goes and we are still unable to play we will be asking for Refunds and will go back to our usual MMOs where the worst that ever happens is nerd-rage over what class got nerfed the most, or whether such and such an item is lore-breaking.
This is plainly the most stupid thing I have had to deal with in a game. The lack of a que is just infurriating and I just hate this. I love the game I WANT TO PLAY but i'm blocked at every chance I have to play this thing.

bump for news on when this'll be fixed SE.
