The server is full, try again later (1017)

Ever since beta 3 I have yet to encounter the queue, I think it's a myth. All I've ever seen is the 1017 error message. Either I get in or I don't, no waiting line.

In the distant past I was against auto logout but now I'm starting to think they need to implement it in FFXIV for players who go AFK for extreme amounts of time, say an hour or more. I remember back when I played EQ2 I saw one player AFK in the same spot for an entire week, and the only reason he was logged out was due to the server shutting down for maintenance. I remember thinking that someone could be sitting in a queue, wanting to play, and is unable to because of this person who parked his character in one spot for days. I think that for the first few months of this game they should enable an auto logout feature.

This is probably going to get lost in the sea of replies, but one more voice can't hurt. Been getting this error all day long. At first it was whatever. What mmo doesn't have problems at launch?

But this is getting ridiculous.

I'm on Siren too and I've been getting this error msg since Noon (it's almost 10pm here).

Yeah I mean I'm being optimistic overall because I can get in intermittently but as I don't have 12 hours to sit at my PC if I have to run and do something I spend the next 2-3 hours spamming log in to try and play for 30 minutes.

That being said I think an error message basically saying "Go away and come back when we feel like letting you play" is kinda a slap in the face when some of us rushed to preorder just because we wanted to get a few days over the weekend to play.

Also between that and getting "Your character is still logged in, try later" during beta has meant over the past week of attempting to play I only really get about 10-20% of the time I had available actually in game! It's really saddening knowing that the game has been so vastly improved gameplay wise but the technical issues are completely dragging it through the mud.

Edit: Marlboro server, blah blah blah...

All my friends are on the Marlboro server, I try to create a character to put on that server to play with them and it tells me this server is no longer accepting characters, wait for the restriction to be lifted or find another server. My question is Am i screwed? Can i not join that server?.... because i bought early access and i can't join the same server as my friends?? That is TOTAL BS if thats the case? Please help!
