At least we could play before, even though the instances were no good. 'd prefer that over what we have now...

Here's the thing; I read somewhere that servers can only hold like 5'000 people...that means that for the WHOLE of Europe, there's only 30'000 spaces available...with reports of over 1'000'000 pre-orders, does this seem right to you?
That seems a little low, though its hard to tell if its true or not. That seems unusually low for any MMO.
I have watched the starting movie so many times now that I don't get sad at watching Bahumat destroy everything

It's not a cut and dry number like that... it depends on varying elements at play, and balancing access with the performance expectation. For instance MS-SQL Server (database server) basically uses a 16-bit mask for tracking connections, so technically it can have up to 32,767 connections active at one time--but, one client might run multiple connections at once, reducing the actual number of users. Then you have to factor in how much data is being transferred per push/pull and adjust for the servers internal bus bandwidth, as well as the network infrastructure's limits.... long story short, it can get quite complex.
The trick is having someone with enough forethought to take everything into account early on in the project so you aren't stuck looking at a server with an exhausted connection pool and a choked up network that stalls on you.
Apparently... either SE, EIDOS, or whoever assessed the infrastructure in Montreal missed the mark.
If those errors still occurs in launch day..ARR can be considered ARDOA!!! ¬¬
I am SOOOOO fucking sick of this shit.
since it was my day off thought i'd chill an play some ff14, well in 11 hours i've only actually played for 2 hours, its just pathetic that this is the service we get for our money, an SE refused to admit the problem and actually explain to thousands of ppl who can't play how they are gonna fix it, first they made a mistake with overpopulating servers, then with not enough new servers an now they limiting our play time.
What they should do is admit there mistake, get some new servers up, an start offering free transfers, try an get rid of all the congestion, its crazy knowing they had a good idea from OB and all the pre orders what kinda numbers they should expect yet they still didn't prepare for it. This problem won't just fix without them investing in there server infrastructure which they should have done before EA an nor will limiting your player base access to the game fix the issue.
