When I went to TigerDirect.com brick and mortar location today. They had a big flashy new gaming PC, running the promotions video of FF14 with a advertisement saying it could be picked up Tuesday and advertising the early access. While I was glancing at the video, 2 guys walked past grumbling about how the Early access was BS, and the problems going on and laughed about how it will be a small smear on the gaming radar, which is very real possibility, now.

I told this "Cool story Bro" because we should realize that SE is making a product that is accessible and welcoming to new players. New players have a fraction of the understanding or zeal that probably most of us do, being FF/MMORPG fans, following this game. I sincerely doubt that with these issues built upon the already bad reputation, anyone would bother to play this game, when there are plenty of alternatives.

I find it insulting at this point that the Producer of the game, seems to be flat out lying about fixes to problems, that he hypes 2.1 patch content while knowing the current game wont work, that there are incentives for purchasing 3 months out of the gate when they know it is not a working game.

Someone can only be disappointed so many times before it just doesn't matter anymore.
I am at that point unfortunately. Im going to log out, and just cancel the reservations.

I didn't write this for people to reply, just so that all the people defending SE will start to realize that if no one wants to come play the game because of the companies crap reputation, even when it is eventually fixed, how much fun will it be with your awesome weapons accomplishments in a dead game? Your just convincing yourself that your not getting shafted. That just how some people react to buyers remorse. Have fun everybody.

It is indeed very disappointing that they clearly had no proper stress test in place; there were issues during open beta, but they failed to properly test their fixes, leading to this "beta test phase 5".

The JP servers apparently have no issues (unless it's just that the JP players weren't screaming for a fix), so that does bring up the old "S/E focuses solely on the Japanese player base" reputation they had in FF11.
It's bad enough that EU servers are lumped together with the North American ones, in a North American data center.

Yeah, what was up with them grouping NA and EU servers into a single group, while Japan gets it's own separate group. Seems kinda prejudiced. And suffice it to say, I'm miffed about all this wasted early access time. I'll never understand why MMO developers don't set up their servers with at least twice the capacity that they know they're going to need, or at least pick a capacity that they know will exceed what they need, and after 3 months scale it back as necessary? Seems like it'd be a hell of a lot easier to do than expand what they already have.

beginning to wonder if they didn't hop onto the Moonshot bandwagon too early. IDK... there's just something I like about being able to pull the cover of a server/blade and just rip out any piece of hardware I want at any time and upgrade the damn thing. Power savings be damned... I want to be able to tweak the damn thing myself as needed on the fly to meet the demand.

But... we're all just a bunch of lemmings... moths led to the flame. No matter how bad they abuse us... we keep taking it. Our cries just seem to fall on deaf ears.

Maybe they need to see the money walking out the door on this....

Mate, you need to slow down a bit. While I believe I fully understand our frustration as I am one of those people that never got their preorder code although I have paid for the game in full more than a month ago, and although many of your points are valid, putting the blame of this situation on the shoulders of a game producer is far from being fair.

Directing all this rage towards SE as a company (including the above mentioned producer) is something I can understand and agree to, but deciding that the server status, the performance of the online teams and maintenance teams, and the marketing campaign are all the result of a one man's decision is a blatant exaggeration. You are not only rude, but by being so you are most likely offending someone who apparently loves the game and poured both heart and soul into (re)creating it.

Yes, the overall experience of the EA period was nothing short of an embarrassing joke; yes, those who witnessed this fiasco should be compensated one way or another; yes, you should not accept this as something normal for MMO launches; yes, you are entitled to and you should vent your frustrations on these forums and demand that you be heard and answered to; BUT NO, you should not go as far as to draw hasty conclusions about who is responsible for all this.

Trust me when I say this to you, no game developer in the whole wide world would ever do anything to purposely endanger the game he has worked on for so many years and with so much dedication. It saddens me to see this turned into blind a witch hunt - it's beneath you and beneath this community.
