The cores sound like they are having a hard time maintaining their frequency due to the clock (locking your state isn't overclocking, but it's pretty close to it). Your PState is running max while your BIOS thinks it should be giving non performance voltage.

Odds are you're going to have to up your voltage. It's not too dangerous, just don't red line it out the gate. Up it incrementally until you start to artifact/core dump. Then you know how high you can take it. The biggest thing is to NOT max your voltage on the first go. Up it a few .xx volts at a time.

    For Example:

My Max NB/CPU vid Voltage is about 1.3 volts. Depending on temp, I may run to 1.31 (cold) or to 1.28 (hot). I don't exceed 1.31 EVER as I have core dumped and there was so much draw on my power supply that my computer stopped charging. I was lucky. If I blew a DC fuse, I would be getting a new computer.
Okay, that explains a lot :P but what do you mean by up it incrementally until you start to artifact/core dump I would want to not damage my graphic card as it was expensive but, ill probably have to get into this voltage stuff, and read more about it. And increase/decrease it incrementally like you said.

On my other issue, i killed the malware/virus trash by the way. But ill probably format just in case later. Seriously the site is fine i think but the download link said it came from THAT site so i thought its okay but, that's not the case :/ i got pup's all over the place and other stuff installed without me agreeing to it before the download was even complete.

    Flattening solved my problem.

I reinstalled Win 7. I had all current drivers and BIOS updates before. A few things come to mind after all this that could be the root cause.
    1. Newer video driver (Nvidia 580M SLI)
    2. Direct X
    3. Game controller driver (Logitech F710)
    4. Related to a game patch

This time I used all the most current drivers except Nvidia where I went with 314.22 that people on ffxiv forums were saying was stable.

For the controller I had trouble reinstalling it and had to use a Microsoft driver to get it to work. Then had same crashing problems again in game. So I wonder if it was the problem. This was caused by having the controller already plugged in when I installed the driver. Don't do this. The only way I could figure out to fix was wiping the machine a 2nd time. With this install game worked fine.

On Direct X I had used the most recent from the Web. This time I'm just using the one that came with the game.

So again for me wiping and a good clean install of everything seems to have worked. Right now the most likely source of issue was newer video driver, Direct X, or game controller driver and maybe related to a game patch. I've been able to play game well now for a few days on high laptop settings with no crashes and good fps. Hope this helps you.

Not sure if I was having the same issue as everyone else here (system freezes requiring a hard reset that only happened while playing ffxiv) - but after trying a gazillion and 1 things to try and remedy it I seem to have fixed it.

If you have an nvidia card, check the physx settings in the nvidia control panel and make it's not set to "auto detect" - change it to your gpu instead.

Sadly, no driver is stable for me so far they all crash about the same amount and in the same way, so i use the best preforming one which is the newest at the moment. But i only crashes ONCE yesterday in 2 WP runs, but ill need to do more testing.
But there's more drivers in november i haven't tried out. Anyways i love the last driver performance vise, increased my score on benchmark by a whooping 3k! :P
Besides im running windows 8.1 64 bit.

I'll try captain_crunch's method now and see if it works Atleast i found that in my nvidia control panel :P Thanks for all your help so far, im going to try all this.

Hopefully someone sees this post because im at a complete loss on it, for whatever reason it'll crash right after i hit "play" 99 times out of 100. only exception being i got in for an hour once and DC'ed with an error 90000 i believe. Error message comes up like this-

    AppName: ffxiv.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.0 ModName: ffxiv.exe
    ModVer: 1.0.0.0 Offset: 008e0fb6

If i click for more details theres a quite large list that lists out 61 modules and 1 thread along with something i have no idea what it is.
    Anyone got a suggestion here?

Well i tested what i said, but still i crashed and now my worst fear came true i also crashed in coil.. So i dont know what im supposed to do now, but i am NOT updating BIOS though its way to risky. I formatted and reinstalled cause i did incase for virus and stuff so now im 100% clean, anyways it might help ill have to play some more, but yesterday i almost got a crash in dungeon but it, was a 5 sec game stop which is a significant improvement, instead of 30 sec freeze + stopped working then after i recover then crash 100% like 5 min later. This time i recovered after 5 secs and no crash later in dungeon. So i hope this is working now. And i never turned on overclock this time after reinstall.

@Time2Nuke that sounds weird :/ i havent got that but i have gotten client crash several times, crash exiting game, crash changing gear in drybone for some reason (happens frequently at that spesific place), and ive also gotten what your saying but not that often very rare actually. Have you tried reinstalling ffxiv arr? i know its not tempting but it might help , but i have no clue. It can be so many things xD graphic card, which widows you have.... well everything basically on this forum suggested i guess :P

    EDIT: http://www.zam.com/forum.html?forum=...58665271268600

This is what i found not long ago, hope it helps. It might be that.

EDIT: Now its even worse than before .. for some reason i crash almost every time im going mining unspoiled stuff, i do not crash before i get near a node. Its weird.. These crashes are really annoying now, and the crashes in dungeons still presists. When im outside a dungeon or in a town i never crash. But as soon as i start getting near unspoiled nodes as miner i crash almost every time. I hope the next patch will fix some of this, but from my experience they just make it worse.

I was getting BSOD myself took me a awhile to figure it out but.... I went to device manager, I uninstalled my Processors the intel R core tm i3 all of them.

I then restarted and let them re-install themselves and restarted again and got rid of the bsod.

But now I have a new issue, I have a appcrash 1033 that's been happening to me on FFXIV never happened before and another thing, I never had 1 damn pc issue since I downloaded this game now I have tons. brand new pc and it can handle the game just fine so not sure what is the problem.

Registered just to participate in this thread. Same issues with freezes and crashes, and going through some of the trouble shooting suggested here. Thank you to those that have posted here
