Freeze/Crash & BSOD issues

BUMP! Please SE, fix this!! I am getting crashes as well now. Brand new PC, temps are fine, all drivers updated, tried disabling different settings for troubleshooting. Have uninstalled and reinstalled game AND Windows. Nothing works, and the crashes seem to be getting more frequent.

it will damage your computer it seems to have fried my cpu due to the crashes force restarting it i'm using an older pc of my the one it fried was only 2 months old

This should have been closed with a disclaimer a long time ago

User mode software will NOT freeze or bsod a computer that is operating in a stable configuration.

These issues occur when the system is operating in an unstable state, either through the use of problematic drivers or faulty and/or misconfigured hardware combinations or pieces of hardware, and at times even a faulty Core operating system kernel mode driver.

Square Enix cannot resolve these issues as they require individual assessment and corrective measures for each affected users individual system.


For users on PS3's,
This would be an issue for Square to investigate as the ps3 version operates on level closer to machine code.

you do realize that these issues only happen while playing ff14 right and in my case since there hot "fixes" so se has created this issue if it was fine tell they updated the game

I have FF14 crash pretty often on PS3 where the game just cuts to a black screen and takes me back to the XMB menu randomly. Happens AT LEAST once a day.

With the new FFXIV update from today it seems it's crashing more often again. Especially when you using alt+tab and getting back into game causes a lot of crashes. Using Nvidia 331.40 BETA drivers.

Someone may have already said this (don't really have time to go thru all pages) but I had the BSOD issue over and over again as well. First I tried the 326.80 dev driver you are using and still had problems. Since I updated to 326.84 about a month ago though, I have only had 1 BSOD/crash. Hope you find a fix! that problem is VERY annoying

I would really like a response from SE on how long exactly they expect us to 'bear with them'.

I have played a lot of mmo's and quite a few since launch and most devs seem to actually fix bugs.

Other than then 90k issue which frankly they had to fix because who would pay for a game they can't log into, they dont seem to have fixed any of the widespread issues.

I do genuinely wonder if they take servers offline and the only thing they actually patch is the games version number...

I can confirm these issues, 'appcrash' & 'BSOD' are affecting Windows 8.1 (64 bit) as well as 7 (64 bit). I have been experiencing the same issues since launch, although never had a problem in Beta.

I have followed this discussion and tried both the straight forward suggestions of OS re-install & Game reinstall, as well as trying at least 10 different sets of videocard drivers for my AMD HD 6950 both official & Beta, combined with trying tweaks and other settings adjustments which seem to have helped other players with no success.

Consequently I invested in Win 8.1 hoping this may overcome the issues which only seem to affect FFXIV, it doesn't happen when playing any other cpu/gpu intensive games. Initially it did seem to be gone, but once again after the most recent maintenance it seems to be occurring again.

I don't know if there is any relation between maintenance patch's and a increase in this issue occuring, but it does feel this way especially after changing to Win8.1 & playing for many days without a BSOD until today.

While there doesn't seem to be any isolating factor to group all players affected, as this is affecting both AMD & Intel CPU's and both AMD & Nvidia Videocards and as mentioned most operating systems it does appear a common link in the responsible module failing and causing the crash's relates to DirectX libraries d3d9.dll etc.

I like everyone else have tried everything I can at "user level" and simply hope SquareEnix can identify the issue and either announce what we need to do at our end to fix it, or fix it at there end. As the unstable nature makes playing dungeons etc. in this game impossible... as everyone else following this thread understands.

Just one more sad face.
