If underclocking the video card solves the problem, then you had bad/unstable hardware to begin with. If this is the case and the card is less than 1 year old, return/RMA it.

nVidia and AMD are not immune from defects, and unfortunately a bad GPU may not cause problems unless a very specific load is used. Sometimes it's just the RAM on the video card, which won't trip up any bugs in the software until something actually tries to use that chip. Just because a video card has 2GB of memory, doesn't mean the game is going to use it. Right now GPU-Z says FFXIV is using 882MB of the video card. Certain OEM brands are also known to cheat benchmarks ( http://www.tomshardware.com/news/MSI...ion,18013.html ) and as a result lower the life expectancy of the video card.

Not everyone who is crashing is getting the virtualcall error, and if you google search for "virtualcall" and game crash, you'll again get reports of nVidia cards doing this in other games. However the finger gets pointed at the game developer, not the video card vendor.
Well almost all of my posts here have been in this thread (the others in my own thread I made about this that only got one other reply). I'm not really getting any feedback on what the problem is. It's not the temps, not a driver issue (tried the latest stable, then latest beta and then the newest latests stable for the GTX285), card isn't overclocked or undervolted or anything (and I'm getting the problem still when I try the nvidia inspector method), it's only happening with this one game and only since the final client version (early access. Was fine with Phase 3 and 4). I've had my GPU a few years with no issues, every other game is fine even if played for many many hours at a time.
My system just freezes. All I get is the audio continuing for a bit before just dropping out. Only way to resolve is a reset of the computer. every so often it tells me the system shut down due to a bluescreen though it never shows. All I get is the system freezing on the last rendered frame (both fullscreen and windowed) and I'm unable to alt-tab, move mouse, ctrl alt delete etc. It happens randomly. Sometimes I get good days when I can play for hours, some times it crashes within like 10-15 mins multiple times. Sometimes it crashes once after 30 mins and then is fine immediately after.

The only thing I can think of it being is with the game because I've tried multiple 'fixes' and the standard stuff and I only ever have problems with FFXIV and only since Early Access.

Also tried limiting frame rate in game, lowering settings etc. Still crashes randomly. Only other thing I can think of is to either set my CPU back to stock (which I'd rather not do just for one game when I'm getting great performance and temp out of it due to water cooling) or to try completely new parts.
