Still getting full system crashes by turning off the frame limiters.
disabled frame limiters last night...didn't crash..but i only played for a little over an hour.
usually crashes within 15-30 minutes. i'm going to try again today. if it hits the 3 hour mark, i'll be satisfied
Please let us know. I originally had the frame limiters off, but I noticed my GPUs ran much hotter than when I had the limiter on. Not sure if it was my imagination or not, but it appeared like my GTX 670s in SLI ran 10-15 C cooler when I locked the limiter to 60 FPS.

Firstly, I'd like to thank those of you who've posted possible solutions to this problem. I've been getting BSOD's and crashes/freezes since launch, and am nearly at my wits end trying to troubleshoot the issue (16+ hours into trying to fix this). Here's what I've tried so far, per suggestions on this thread:
1. Updated video drive, audio drive, Logitech drive, PhysX drive, and every other drive I could find
2. Set program to run as admin
3. Ran a mdsched command to check memory (RAM is fine)
4. Used msconfig to par down to the bare minimum of programs
5. Dropped NVIDIA video drive down to 320.49, then down to the 314.22 version
6. Set PhysX to run on CPU
7. Virus/malware scans
8. Disabling app overlays like Steam
My results: Every once in a while I'll have a good day, and play for 5+ hours with no problems. Most of the time, however, I cannot stay logged in for 5 min without a blue screen or a crash. I know it's not an overheating issue because my rig has a liquid cooling system and temp alarms, which have not been triggered. Researching driver sweeper programs have yielded iffy results--some people seem to swear by them, others claim they are completely unnecessary. I also haven't tried the most recent suggestions (switching off the in-game frame limiter and defragging the folder), so those will be my next attempts, followed by a driver sweep if that fails.
Just wanted to report what is/is not working for me, in case it helps direct someone else to the source of their woes. And believe me when I say that I share your frustrations...I play four other games, and only FFXIV seems to have this problem, despite the strong indication that it's an issue with the rig and not SE. All the other games are rather graphically-demanding, so I couldn't say why those programs are fine and FFXIV is not.
For Me it was the Logitech Gaming Software latest version to mess up a lot with FF, the 8.5. I'm gone bk to the 8.46 and all works fine.
edit: I also am using the headphone from logitech the g35 and sometime the audio is glitchy.

So I tried defragging my computer and it still crashed--typically after 5 min online. Then I tried turning my graphics settings from High to Standard, and at least that enabled me to stay online for longer than 5 min without BSOD or freezing. I'll let you know how that goes after the maintenance.
okay, so after servers came back up from the recent maint...after 30-40 min. my computer crashed....i guess turning off frame limiters doesn't solve the problem. Please let us know. I originally had the frame limiters off, but I noticed my GPUs ran much hotter than when I had the limiter on. Not sure if it was my imagination or not, but it appeared like my GTX 670s in SLI ran 10-15 C cooler when I locked the limiter to 60 FPS.
i wish SE would solve this issues faster (if they are actually trying to fix it)
In case it contributes to the conversation, I have this issue too, and I have tried:
--Removing .NET Framework from my system entirely (as the crashes got "worse" after upgrading it past 4
--Rolling back my Intel Graphics Drivers (it's a laptop, so has both Intel and NVIDIA drivers) to the version from earlier this year they recommend for FFXI (which won't work on the newer drivers)
--Moving my NVIDIA Graphics Drivers up to the most recent (August 20) beta for the 540M
--Completely removing the drivers for my Final Fantasy XIV branded Snakebyte game controller
--Turning off hyperthreading
--Turning off Turboboost
--Disabling all background processes other than windows un-removable ones and speedfan
--Disabling the Realtek audio drivers in favor of the factory default
--Disabling my wireless card completely in hardware and plugging into the hardwire port
I am down to the point where I only BSOD or freeze/lock and have to restart about every 3 hours, with the error code split between NVIDIA and Intel Drivers.
So I also constantly crash, anywhere from 5-35 minutes randomly. And during teleporting most of the time. Things I have tried to fix this issue:
-Reinstalling Game
-Reinstalling OS and installing everything from scratch
-Trying different drivers
-Trying minimum graphics settings
-w/ and w/o Crossfire
-Fullscreen and Windowed
I have figured out a small solution to a part of the problem, if you have your frame rate drop to nearly none right before a crash, if you press CTRL-ALT-DEL and wait a few seconds, and go back, you might save your game from crashing. If you're fast enough, I am not always unfortunately. And of course those times when it just crashes without the fps drop, you can't do anything about it.
I was hoping this update would take care of some of these issues, but considering we can't even get in contact with support, this is super irritating. I love the game, but they are making it really hard to actually enjoy and play.
I would be careful with disabling something for heat on the cpu. If the game is causing a lot of heat on the cpu, a better cooler is a far safer alternative to have a meltdown on your cpu. Cheaper too.
