    Freezes stopped for me now!

After trying everything else what had been suggested here, but none working, I found old thread from the 1.0 archives where someone mentioned about issues with some dynamic boost thing with Nvidia GTX cards(I have 670). Then with little googling I found this http://www.overclock.net/t/1267918/g...d-undervolting. Following those instructions, which was basically just that one command for me because I didn't care for the overclock, stopped the crashing and freezing completely. This is something I feel I should not have to do and this is the only game that does this for me, but if it's the only way to stop those freezes for me then I'll do that until it's confirmed to work some other/proper way.

I'm not sure how relevant this is but I also was monitoring when the crashes were still happening and this is what I got and the obvious spike is where the freeze happened

    This one: nvidiaInspector.exe -forcepstate:0,2

This however sets the speed lower than what it would be normally, but I'm not confident enough with this thing to start playing around with those numbers myself. It doesn't really affect me anyway because I do use fps cap to help keep my computer whisper quiet. Also you need to do that every time you start your computer. I forgot it once and panicked when I froze again little later, but then I remembered I did forget to use that command before starting, and up to this point I haven't froze otherwise a single time when I have used that.

Do you get any kind of error or just nothing happens? When I first tried it I did it in wrong place and received an error, but then it worked when I did it where the Inspector was installed.

I have yet to have another crash/freeze since I started using that(as long I remembered to use it before starting ). It's a crude bandage for me, but I'll take it while waiting for a proper solution.

So I just tried this after having yet another crash this morning and while not conclusive or anything I did manage to play for a few hours with no crashes (though I have managed just as long or longer without this). I will keep my eye on this over the next few days of playing and see if it really helps at all.

Still crashing after this as well. So far I've tried pretty much everything and I still get system crashes. Really annoying ebcause I want to try doing some more end game stuff but can't at the moment because I don't know when I'll crash and end up leaving a group in the middle of stuff.

It should be noted that not all crashes are caused by the same thing.

If underclocking the video card solves the problem, then you had bad/unstable hardware to begin with. If this is the case and the card is less than 1 year old, return/RMA it.

nVidia and AMD are not immune from defects, and unfortunately a bad GPU may not cause problems unless a very specific load is used. Sometimes it's just the RAM on the video card, which won't trip up any bugs in the software until something actually tries to use that chip. Just because a video card has 2GB of memory, doesn't mean the game is going to use it. Right now GPU-Z says FFXIV is using 882MB of the video card. Certain OEM brands are also known to cheat benchmarks ( http://www.tomshardware.com/news/MSI...ion,18013.html ) and as a result lower the life expectancy of the video card.

Not everyone who is crashing is getting the virtualcall error, and if you google search for "virtualcall" and game crash, you'll again get reports of nVidia cards doing this in other games. However the finger gets pointed at the game developer, not the video card vendor.
