I personally do this on all of my builds / machines or when I suspect some hardware is amiss on my machine. Prime95 will complain and throw errors in the console windows (Saying something like expected {number} but got {number}) and FurMark is literally a fuzzy donut to stress out your GPU and if that fails (I had a dead Geforce 560 Ti) the system will either crash, or the video display driver will crash. For Prime95 I would run that for at the very least 30 minutes to and hour and for FurMark about 30 minutes is enough. You could also run both tests together to reduce your gaming downtime but if something fails you will need to re-run independently to iron out the issue.
