Ok. I thought I solved the problem by switching to the HDMI audio of the gtx 570. For 2-3 days I had no crashes. Tonight I got 3 crashes under the same circunstances. PC temperature was fine. This gotta be a audio driver problem, but I tried everything to fix it without success. Tried a lot of older audio drivers and the newer ones as well. Tried the old and new video drivers. This only happens with FFXIV. Other games get the vga to the same temperature and use, but without any problems. No error message, just freeze. Anyone got any news on this matter?

Price was no object when Count Dascorp put forth the necessary guild marks to purchase the ability “Fleet of Foot.”

I made another topic, I figure perhaps one of the only ways to get square enix's attention is if enough people just try and show what's really going on, if their entire technical support forum is "game is crashing" ..maybe they'll pay attention.
Limiting FPS to 30 helps a lot for me, but it just moves the crashes from every 5 min to every 30 min.

Nvidia drivers 331.65 and 314.22 seem to be the most stable drivers for Final Fantasy XIV. try to limit FPS to 30 or 60 will also help. For ATI Radeon users I don't know what's most stable.

This is a very frustrating issue.
I buyed the game yesterday, installed it and haven't been able to play yet, on top of that time is running and the free month will eventually end. I was able to get past the character creation and most of the intro and thats it. I can't even play 10min. The game constantly freezes and i'm forced to reset the computer and sometimes i can alt-tab it (very rare). I already tried a whole lot of stuff:

    - Uninstall GPU drivers, install new ones, older ones, nothing worked.
    - Updated every driver on my computer.
    - Disconnected everything USB related.
    - Installed Windows 7 32-bit, because i thought it could be a 64-bit problem.
    - It didn't worked so i tried Windows 8 64-bit, didn't work either.
    - Checked CPU & GPU temperatures, everything is normal.
    - Tried to overclock and underclock GPU, CPU and RAM.
    - Installed FFXIV on 3 different HDDs.
    - Triple checked sound drivers, updated them and downgraded them.
    - Disabled onboard sound card.
    - Disabled onboard graphics card.
    - Launch game on administrator, compatibility mode and everything i could think of.
    - Disabled all graphic in-game features like HDR (i was having problems unchecking HDR)
    - Disabled the wtv cutscenes box.
    - Limited the game to 30 frames.
    - Tried fullscreen, windowed...
    - Maybe some more stuff i read in this threat and don't remember anymore.

I'm really upset with this, i was really looking forward to finally be able to play this game and it doesn't work. I thought it could be some hardware problem but after checking this threat i think SE should really pay more attention and at least come here from time to time and explain what is going on and what they are doing to fix it. Honestly i don't see myself supporting the game after the free period if i can't even play it (obviously) but i am frustrated because i paid for this and i can't even get my free month.
Anyway, my specs are the following:

    Core 2 Duo 3.0MHZ
    ATI HD4870 1GBDDR
    4 GB ram
    Windows 8.1 64-bit

I just don't think this is going to be addressed in a timely manner, if at all..you would think a problem that is literally going to cost them money by making the game unplayable for several hundred people would be a priority..

This problem becomes worse and worse ...
Before, at least, i could sometimes play a after noon without freeze ...
Since this Friday - i can not play 10 minutes without freeze ! Nothing change in my configuration ( either in the game or in my computer ) - I'm afraid this game is causing irreversible damage to my computer ...
    - I have the PS3 version, which is ugly and awful latencies . (> Dungeon not possible)
    - Now I can not play on the desktop PC, because the game freezes now every 10 minutes. (> Dungeon not possible + mental integrity in danger)
    - My laptop is not enough to run the game properly (I did not dare try a dungeon , since I get slowdowns in some areas with lot people - with the graphics at minimum...

SE, our patience to the limits ! Thank you to communicate on this issue ! The advice you give to the FAQ , do not solve anything ( and those given here does not realy work too ... ) - thank you to bring quickly at your client, a REAL solution to your programming problems on this game.

I tried a couple of things and I found a temporary fix:

Note: Make sure you do a clean/latest install of the vga driver before trying this

First of all you need to know what type of crash/BSOD you are getting
If it's a BSOD with video_tdr_failure you will have to install MSI Afterburner "or any other similar application" and set it up with:
    Power Limit %75
    Core Clock -40
    Memory Clock -40

The reason behind it is, That the VGA requires more power than what the Power Supply can provide and causes the VGA card to crash.

If you are getting a straight forward Freeze and crash:
Go to the BIOS and disable the PCI-Express 3rd generation

Let me know if this works for you!
