Freeze/Crash & BSOD issues

I was having issues with freezing and game crashing on my wife's PC. What solved the problem so far (2 day without issues) is limiting the FPS to 30 and using the nvidia drivers 312.44 (I believe that is the stable version people suggested here). Will keep you all posted if something happens.

314.22 seems to work best, it limit's the crashing at least. Game still seems to crash under heavy load at times.

I suspect the issue occurs when your PC runs out of resources. The reasoning behind my theory is that if I spend the day levelling craft's I can go for as long as a day without a single issue. However once I start fate pt I experience a couple of crashs per day (even on 314.22 with FPS limited to 30). I think limited to 30 works for a lot of people because obv the game is using less resources when it's fps is limited and likewise this limit's the error. However when you run into say f.ex a Svara's Fall or DD where there is a lot of people on screen and your PC is being stretched the error seems more likely to present itself. Seems that way on my machine at least.

Do you and your wife use two different PCs to play by chance and is the game stable for your PC?

If that is the case, try swapping video cards and see if you don't crash on your system afterwards and if she is stable or not.
I do this regularly on my PCs to identify when I've received a bad product or if something else is causing the problem.

I'm actually surprised that the 314.22 driver for Nvidia is still the best one as far as mitigating crashes... Then again, it was one of the last drivers specifically released for FFXIV version 1.0.

I actually switched to the newest "Game Ready" drivers they've released (note that they've tuned it specifically for Battlefield 4) and it seems to work better than 314.22 for me (as far as errors go), with a slight drop in fps.

Please note that I have never experienced the R6025 run time error myself and have been perfectly stable since the official release. I was unable to play most of the time during the Alpha/Beta phases due to errors that most everyone else experienced.

tbh the only way this issue will be sorted in a reasonable time is if 90% of the pc player base cancelled there subs, because this will hit SE where it hurts..which is there fat wallet so they will have to act. But this aint gunna happen, therfore a fix for this issue (if it ever gets fixed) will be in the distant future. I've seen the light so to speak & i aint played for about 5 days now & I can happily say my subs are cancelled, no point playing a game when freezing/crashing/disconnects for a few reasons..

It annoys me!
I detest paying to be a BETA tester (which is basically what we are atm, the game is simply...unfinished & should never have been released in the state it is in.. even release was a complete joke!)
Customer service is none existant at best.
But also, it's not just me who it effects, when I freeze or get random disconnects, it also effects the other players i'm with if i'm in a dungeon, some of which have prob been in the que waiting for over an hour, im a healer so it's not good when the player from group drops out is a healer... A sure way to get a bad name on your server so it wont be worth playing!

A shame really, i used to enjoy FFXIV & the potential is there, but unfortunately the dev's at SE don't have a clue & as ive said above the CS is a joke (If your lucky, you get a reply... saying along the lines of "Case Closed" so chances are they don't even read 90% of tickets, for any mmorpg to be successful for a long period (Such as WoW/EvE online) it must have reliability & decent Customer service. FFXIV has NONE of these. This is the 2nd time SE have tried on this title & failed... Need i say more?

Im just gunna wait out for EQN (Everquest Next) which will show SE how it's done properly! & in the meantime continue playing EvE online.

My opinion.. if your getting these problems such as discons/freezing/crashing..Spend your hard earned cash elsewhere, because it ain't gunna get better anytime soon, infact patch after patch its got worse!

And on a final note i will NEVER again pay to play any SE Online title again!.. This title proves they don't have the tech knowledge or CS... But still happy to try milk us for every penny/cent!

There are simply no words for how stupid this is. I've had BSOD+crash SEVEN TIMES in the last two days; I haven't even booted up the damn game today because I know it's just going to happen again. I recently paid for three more months of subscription, and now that money is being wasted because SE can't be bothered to fix a problem that THEY caused. Take some damn responsibility, ffs; YOU caused this problem, and the players are the ones suffering for it. You people are ruining your reputation as a gaming company with your garbage customer service. I got the game in the first place to play with my friends, and now they're all playing without me because the game won't. Stop. Crashing.

We know you know about this problem, so STOP IGNORING IT AND DO SOMETHING. Get off your lazy behinds and fix this. Look how many people you've pissed off, and how many have cancelled their subscriptions because you don't want to do some actual work. You could have a fix done in a matter of days if you actually TRIED, so hop to it, goddammit.

Crashing and forcing you to restart, BSOD crashing, or just shutting down without warning?


So many people reporting problems yet this forum's topic is so broad it includes different symptoms to different problems that can result from just about anything.

Logically speaking, your PC should not straight up "shutdown" unless it is experiencing a Power Supply problem or Fail-Safe activation, so the game should have nothing to do with this unless it is causing your GPU, CPU, or chipset to overheat.

Freezing can be caused by games and usually involves pressing the reset button or power button to fix the issue, but it can also just as easily be caused by any software interacting with the game. Some programs that were popular in the past, but have not been updated for years, are known application killers (I hate you RealPlayer!).

The Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) is usually associated with memory problems, but can be almost anything: DLL errors, Driver errors, Faulty Hardware, Power Supply Issues, and pretty much anything that goes along with a straight up "shutdown" only in this case it is less likely to have been triggered by an automatic Fail-Safe.

My most recent experience with a BSOD was related to a faulty video card, and it went away after it was replaced. Like I said though... it could be just about anything.

In any case, SE has already replied in 3 threads (including this one) that the issue is known and under investigation. Somehow I doubt yelling about it and demanding a faster response is going to make a difference in how fast they find and rectify the problem.

crashing and forcing me to shutdown. One example would be I stayed away from mnk quest... Every time I tried entering that instance. Guess what happened? My game would freeze along with the pc... Happened about 4-5 times on the same instance. Even if I came back the next day and tried to do that instance.
