Add me to the list of having these exact same issues on a daily basis - I can't go a single XIV session without having 3 freezes/crashes/BSoD as a minimum when playing on my laptop.

And like most here, they all kickstarted from P4.

I have both a laptop and PC running 64-bit Windows 7 with 4gb ram, however my PC has an ATI Radeon HD6950 card whereas my laptop has a seperate Nvidia Geforce 540m card/chip, and of the two Nvidia is the only thing that's causing me issues and not the OS.

The only issues I get using an ATI card is random flashing yellow polygons, but thats greatly reduced thanks to a graphics driver update.

    Laptop Spec:
    XPS-L502X
    Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00GHz (stock clock)
    4gb RAM
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    Nvidia Geforce GT 540M

Note: I also fully uninstalled and cleared registry data before doing a fresh update for my Nvidia drivers to 327.23, but no joy - still getting the crashes

Drivers that are crashing in event viewer are always nvlddmkm and igfx .

    yeap

For exactly a month the game unexpectedly closes due to a windows error "Final Fantasy 14: ARR has stopped working". Only the game closes, and I never get bsod. I have noticed a pattern to when and where these so called random game freezes. It has never froze while in a dungeon duty, but it usually happens when I'm in a city or near a busy FATE. The thing is that it doesn't always happen every time I'm in a city or busy FATE.

I did play the FFXIV in open beta and pre-release with my old computer with no problems. The problems started when I playing the game with my new computer: AMD FX-8150 3.6GHz 8-Core Processor, Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard, G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory, Samsung 840 Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk, Asus GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB Video Card, Corsair CX 600W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V Power Supply, Corsair 500R Black ATX Mid Tower Case.

Over the last month of freezes, I've done many trouble-shooting of my own including:
In game setting changes like resolution, full screen, windowed, no player names, other pc player actions removed, all video settings as low as possible.
Software trouble-shooting like firewalls off, anti-virus off, startup programs all off, all drivers possible up-to-date, re-installed FFXIV three weeks ago, re-installed FFXIV yesterday with firewalls/anti-virus off, Virus/malicious/spyware scans ran, run launcher in admin mode.
Hardware trouble-shooting like running Memcheck86 to make sure memory was good, re-sitting memory sticks, made sure power supply was ample enough for computer system, ran dozens of tests on temperatures everything peaks lower than 55C except video card which doesn't peak higher than 66C.

Edit: I'm currently testing the game with ffxiv process set from normal to high in task manager. So far so good.

I have been having this issue for some time now since early access. I never BSOD just game crashing.
    My build:
    i7 3930K @ 4.2
    4 x 4GB gskill trident 2133 cl 9
    2 x ati 7950 in crossfire
    2 x 120GB mushkin chronos SSD RAID 0
    eyfinity 5760x1080

I had this issue during early access with the amd beta 13.8 drivers but that was a driver issue. I reverted the drivers and had no issues except poor frames because crossfire didn't work. I finally turned off my second card and and ran the game in windowed full screen mode with no issues runs perfectly fine. Then AMD released 13.9 and I thought my problems were solved. Crossfire does now work with the game but full screen crashing still exists. It did always happen when I tried porting or on my magitek mount. I am going to try some things that I haven't tried yet seen in this thread. All I can say is that it's definitely game related, not driver/hardware.

Edit:I tried using the frame limiter. Doesn't even work in full screen with crossfire enabled. Only works for me in full screen windowed.
edit2: I turned down the clocks on my graphics cards and I'm noticing major frame improvements. When I normally get 50-60 fps Im getting 80-100 fps. i went from 810 and 1250 to 750 and 1150.
Edit3: I will do more testing when I get home for anyone this is helping check back around 10:30 est and I will have more info then for you.

I get this about once a day as well. I have an i7 3930, 8GB of 2400 ram, and GTX 680 with Windows 8 Pro 64 bit. My systems score like 12000 on the benchmark at max settings. Don't understand why it freezes and locks up all the time either.

Had one crash to desktop so far in a couple hours on 331.40. Hard to say whether it's more or less stable than 326.80 for me at this point.

    What fixed crashing for me

I recently switched from 560ti to 760 and started to have crashed 2-10times per day. The game just froze with blackscreen for couple seconds and when all came back nvidia reported a crash. Sometimes the FPS was bad after the crash, sometimes not.

My card was running on stock clocks (760 that is) and it didn't make much difference even I underclocked or added some volts. (internet said this would help but no..) I also went thru' all the drivers possible, even the older ones which you have to do magics with the .ini file to able to install them.

Anyway, what fixed crashing for me was disabling the "Cinematic Cutscenes: Depth of field" option from FFXIV:ARR itself..
After I turned it off, no problem what so ever.

    OS: Win 7 x64
    GPU: Gainward GTX 760 Phantom
    nVidia driver: 327.23
    My FFXIV:ARR Graphical settings (image):

Just to clear this up, I was having the crashes on random, not during the cutscenes themselves.
And as far as I know, this problem with "nVidia stopped working" is not hardware related, since it only does it with FFXIV.
It has to be some graphical bit that makes the nvidia go haywire.

Other tip that I've found, which perhaps is no any use is to underclock the card a bit. Download EVGA Percision X, set power to 105-110% (this does not overclock the card) and also core clock -20 to 50Mhz.. But then again, since this is not a hardware issue (unless your card is broken, and it keeps crashing with other games too) there should be no need for this.

They way you described your problem is identical to mine. I look forward to testing these things out today.
