I got a BSOD yesterday after having a huge lagspike that just affected the models, some people moving, some people not moving. Finished Dark devices - The end, got teleported to Coerthas and then BSOD. I went to sleep and when i tried again after waking up, did another fate and again the lagspikes, the sound stop working, etc. Ended up shutting down the game to not get any more screens. I think it will be unplayable until they fix this...

    Well, good news!

I disabled SLI and just ran on one GTX670. I played FFXIV: ARR for just over 9 hours straight yesterday with SLI disabled, and I did not crash. Everything ran perfectly. This is the first time since the game went live I have played all day without crashing.

The only thing I noticed was my main GPU was running constantly at 98% utilization and 75C - 76C, which is still way under the 97C max operating temp for a GTX670.

When I was in SLI, the cards shared the load, so I guess it is expected that one card's load would ramp way up.

Anyway, I will run this way for the next week or so. If my system remains stable, I will swap cards to see test the other card. Ultimately, I will leave one of the cards out of my rig all together and only run one card in future builds.

I will keep you all posted.

So I seem to have my system functioning again. *crosses fingers* Here's what I did:

I used a driver identifier program (Driver Detective in my case, but there are others that will work just as well) to figure out which of my drivers were out of date. Some of them I would have never found on my own, like the Renesas USB Host Controller driver or the Intel Chipset SATA AHCI Controller driver; anyway, I hunted down the latest versions of all the listed out-of-date drivers and upgraded them. You can pay money to have the driver identifier program do it for you automatically, but I prefer -free- options personally. Also, I read a poster who complained of the same BSOD error I was getting, and reported success after he'd pulled out his memory cards, blew on them to remove dust, and re-installed them (apparently the dust got in the way of their connectivity). So I did the same with a can of compressed air, on both the RAM cards and the slots to ensure all dust was removed.

After both these steps, I seemingly removed my BSOD/crash issue---I played for 8 hrs yesterday and all day today without issue. Hopefully this will help a few others out there!

wish i could fix my problem with something as simple as blowing out the dust.
but my rig is all brand new, so no need for that....

It's really weird, I solved my issue by disabling one of the gpus and going from tri-crossfire to dual. Considering that most everyone here is on single cards, both nvidia and ati, I don't understand the connection between us all even more. I used to crash every 5-25 minutes like everyone, then I tested this yesterday and had no problems after. This also means I'm running 2/3 power so my framerate dropped. Maybe this info can help some of you with your crashing, or help you figure out the connection between us all. I would love to be able to play this game at 60+ FPS again instead of 40.

I posted similar findings on the last page: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post1268019

So in the end I still crash apparently, just less often, and even more so without crossfire altogether, but it still happens.

    That sucks.

Unfortunately, FFXIV has not hooked me like I hoped it would. I have moved back to LOTRO with my SLI re-enabled. Not a single problem.

Hopefully the SE team will be able to pinpoint what is happening to folks so this can get addressed sooner than later.

    Best of luck to folks.

everyday i grow more and more curious why this happens..
for the past 2 weeks, i've been playing at a pc cafe. i've played on about 10 different computers (all using gtx 660/660ti), all of them have had their drivers crash..some different from others.
for example some of them would crash only once, some every 40 minutes. but the only difference from the pc cafe's computers and my home computer is that the pc cafe's computers` drivers would crash but would recover. i would alt+tab out and go back into the game --> like some people have, the fps would drop to 5...BUT, if i would alt+tab out to windows, wait about 10-15 seconds and alt+tab back into the game, the game would be back to normal (fps maxed + sound).
where as my home computer would just get a BSOD or driver crash --> alt+tab procedure but no sound.
