You do get achievements for opening up a whole map.

That said, I think there's plenty of incentive to explore. There are so many details and nice things to look at, which should be considered a reward in itself.

good post. wow does have a little what yu call "easter eggs", and even more sinse mists of pandaria. they hav rare spawns in certain grottos, chests(but usually worthless items) and items on the ground worth quite a lot of gold.

it is imperativ this is implented. doesnt seem to hard to add anyway.
