    no insitement to go explore world -

    greetings citizens.

    to break the current trend of whining treads i thought i could make a thread about world treasure huntering.

    so i am almost lv. 30 and it is a good game. but. this game needs more exploreation kontent.

    dost anyone else feel there is no real insitement to go explore the world other than getting a few exp points and quests? basikally i feel there is no real reason to explore around the courner because i know there is nothing there to gain. i believe there should be treasure chests around the world or random items on the ground as an insensitive to explore the world. this could work as some side-event.

    what do you gus think?

    You do get achievements for opening up a whole map.

    That said, I think there's plenty of incentive to explore. There are so many details and nice things to look at, which should be considered a reward in itself.

    I know what you are talking about, they used to call them easter eggs, and in manga and anime that are about mmorpgs they are all over the place. You are talking about a secret cave here or there and if you go in a secret boss which if you beat a secret piece of gear that people will be like whoa how did you get that!? type of thing. Or under the bridge 100 miles to the left in the corner is a chest with a map which leads you to a secret quest etc... etc.. The reason this stuff is no longer in games is because this game follows the formula of WOW, they said it themselves, FF11 online had developers play Everquest for a year for inspiration because at the time Everquest was the most successful mmo, the current Final Fantasy 14 was inspired by the current most successful mmo world of warcraft.

    From a business standpoint it makes sense but for us players who want an original RPG to play where we have that feeling like we are freshly exploring a new world...it probably wasn't the smartest decision because as a wow developer says in the link i'm about to post, the developers themselves don't feel much "Incentive" to create a lot of interactive content randomly in the world because the player base just wants to get their quests done and hurry and get to "End Game" content.

    it is imperativ this is implented. doesnt seem to hard to add anyway.

    I played another MMO that had a system with exploration and finding items (can't remember which one), and it was fun up until some of the parts were really rare/hard to find. I think it would be enjoyable and could add to the story as well.

    I agree to an extent. I ran around exploring coerthas and mor dhona as a lvl 16 just to see cool new places. Found a lot of awesome looking structures and landscape, dodged some mean mobs. Finding behemoth's dominion was really cool.
    Felt really empty though. A lot of areas had very few mobs, and nothing in particular to do except expose the map. Hopefully they will fill it up a bit later. It wasn't that tricky at all getting around without agro, except some narrow ledge with flaming ogres. That was fun.

    Honestly to reach max level you kind of need to go everywhere, and the story will take you there as well. All the content needs to do is guide you to every area, and it does that in spades. What you're looking for is a game called Guildwars 2.
