Australian Servers

I think SE u guys should invest in an Australian server imagine the amount of extra load u are getting from all the final fantasy players in Australia and new Zealand I think if u guys spent a little bit of coin to set at least 1 up u would have even more players coming to this game and well we proberally wouldn't have this excess strain on NA/JP servers. Im guessing there is over 30k AU and NZ players on here. think about it

No Whizawk, but they have one on the East Coast of the US, which will get most of Europe a pretty similar ping to most of AUS playing on a JP server, with the difference being that your servers will be filled with English speaking players rather than Japanese players who generally prefer not to have anything to do with English speaking players.

Please note that I have nothing against any Japanese players, the majority of them are kind, pay attention to what's happening and play the game well, but communication is tough when you don't speak the same language, making events/dungeons/whatever more difficult. I've played on predominately JP servers before, and the unfortunate truth is that it makes a lot of things really hard to accomplish in an MMO.

I don't think EU is really going to miss out all that much. Look at the sheer size of Australia and its isolation to the rest of the world. Do you know what is considered an except able download speed in Australia? Around 6 -12 mbps and the except able upload speed is 1-2 mbps no joke. Now factor in ping to an American server for example and you are effectively communicating at 2 mbps i am not kidding. Americans pull 80 mbps download speed for god sake and i not sure about EU but it is bound to be way better then us. How does Australia not deserve every damn bit of help it can get?

The only way Australians will begin to pull descent speed is if the National broadband network succeeds and that is 3 years off not to mention the constant political bs on how it is implemented. Average download speeds stand to rise to 20mbps -85 mbps if you are financial enough to get it a good speed plan but not for another 3 years. One stinking server is really not too much to ask. This would also cater for PnG and New Zealand aswell does it really seem like that much of a far fetched request?

Krystal, please never ever explain networking again. lol. Full duplex communications don't work in the way you think they work..... throughput(measured by *bits/*bytes per second) is not affected by latency, which is a measurement of Response expressed in microseconds and determined by cable distance from start point to end point. The game uses 30-40KB/s of downstream bandwidth at best, which is less then a 512kbit connection would provide.

nope it doesn't happen often but we have a shit load of gamers. Also I am on the NBN now and I still get pretty gnarly ping. We need a Sydney Data Center. It will relieve stress from this game quite substantially

Well as EU has its servers located in the NA data centre, why couldnt there be a server for AU/NZ located in JP data centre. Duty finder would still work just the same, as its bound to its data centre, so the worldless content would be generally the same. Then Aussies could all play together, and have its own peak times. Down the road, if the numbers from AU/NZ maintain at a good level, maybe open up some local servers? Im sure there are ideas around SE atm to open an EU data centre if numbers hold. However, having an AU/NZ centre would probly exclude it from the worldless content unless there were a way to bridge that content to JP if needed. I would just like SE to actually realise that AU/NZ is NOT apart of EU. We are in fact on the opposite side of the world :P But having an AU/NZ server or two in the JP data centre would be pretty good and with the new servers being set up as we speak, they could just be named and optimised for AU/NZ. I'd be curious to see some numbers regarding how many people from each region are playing.

Im so sick of this 3rd rate service. This is my 3rd server... I have re levelled to 20+ on 3 servers to try and accommodate their incompetence.. They crash their servers.. and now it seems my once unpopulated server is full to the brim and I cant play once again.. srsly SE you can only shit on ppl so much.. You should have sorted this shit out days ago.. you SHOULD have been working around the clock to install new servers...actually you know what.. this SHOULD never have happened in the first place.. arrrg so fkn fed up with this shit.
