    Grand Companies

    I've read/heard that there are small differences with regards to class and GCs.

    - Immortal Flames in Ul'dah for tanking gear.
    -Twin Adders in Gridania for mage gear.
    - The Maelstrom in Limsa Lominsa for melee (non-mage) DPS gear.

    Is any of this actually true? Because I'm a pugilist and if these claims are true I will go for Maelstrom.

    Here are the Pug weapons for Maelstrom, Twin Adders, and Immortal Flames. All the gear is slightly different, but it's tough to say which is the best.

    Yoshi P has said that people should choose based on which city/GC they like more. The devs have tried to balance the gear offered by each of the 3 GCs, so that each GC isn't overrun with one class. And unlike in 1.0, the GC gear may not be the best gear for any particular class. In ARR, dungeon drops, primals, and Darklight are probably going to be better.

    You can to look through the gear offered by each GC and decide based on that. But keep in mind that the devs could change everything by balancing skills and classes and offering new gear that's not available yet. Overall, I wouldn't stress over it.
