I'm playing on a macbook that I got in late 2009. It's playable, but the framerate can drop pretty low at times. It is good enough for me, until I have the money to build a new pc.

I pretty much loathe Steve Jobs and will never but a mac, though I do like a lot of OSX.

Don't the new macbook pros come with AMD (bobcat) APUs now? I'm pretty sure XIV would run on those.

I started looking at the specs...and it had a slower processor than my $700 gateway laptop...and only had 2GB of ram...and a vid card that was nowhere near able to support even the simplest of games. My point isn't that Apple comps are bad and I honestly think that all of your comp's problems are user errors or neglect towards the PC...b/c I've only had 1 problem with mine. The HD crashed after 2 years, but I was able to salvage every bit of info and port it to a new HD and it only cost me $50.

So, essentially what I'm saying is that Apple over charges for sub-par equipment...
Apple does have to pay for all that fancy marketing somehow . . . .. Not to mention their sales teams in their stores now that's pressure selling. Apple knows that if you leave their store after a flashy demo and do some research you'll find that everywhere you turn everyone has a better product out. For gaming I would never recommend mac, but if you have it run bootcamp and the benchmark if it works it works.

Hey there! Come and see our new Macbook Air. Yes! That's right it's a shiny mac utilising a three year old CPU; Who needs hyperthreading when you don't get a CD Tray? And guess what, it's even more expensive than the old macbook air - it even comes with it's own box (that costs extra)!

What ... what do you mean you want to choose your own software, at Apple we control your life - and you get to pay for it! GNU public license .... ? Please don't swear in the store sir, you'll reduce the fanboys to tears. Now, look at the mac logo (shiny) and unzip your pants while I close this sale.

I too would love this, I currently run it on a windows 7 boot camp build, but I have several friends who don't do that and want to play. Still, I think they have their work cut out for them, but having the game running natively on OS X would be a good call in my book.

Even have it on Steam or the Mac App store.

The main problem with this is because mac doesnt support directx it would require the entire program being rewritten, if SE mentioned the possibility of it and didnt come through, it will be because they looked into the idea and thought it wasnt financially viable.

This is because most people have PCs and as people have already said, its not hard to put a second partition on to use windows.

Before anyone says "but they will have had to rewrite it for PS3 compatibility" this will be true but they will have looked into it and thought it was financially viable because most of the japanese players will play on PS3 which will more than cover the cost in the long term

One of the big strengths that Square-Enix touted about the Crystal Tools engine is it's ability to be multi-platform and how easy it is to port to other systems... Now, I do believe that it isn't as easy as an option that they run though the compiler "Build for PS3... / Build for OS X" but I still hope this is something they decide to do...

I would love to run this on my system without having to shut down the computer just to boot to Windows.

Agreed Delmontyb, it can be a pain at times. If they were to ever do this though, I'd certainly be one of their first purchases.
