    FFXIV for Mac

"Square Enix announced at GDC 2008 that the new MMO was being targeted at all aforementioned systems and hinted that Mac and Linux clients would not be out of the question."

I was wondering, now when FFXIV is again in development stage, maybe SE could bring it also for Mac?? Why not make game more accessible, it's supposed to be multi-platform MMO anyway.

I realize that's far from priority's atm, and I know that some ppl think Mac can't handle well FFXIV, but those new MacBook's Pro are doing just fine, I'm playing on one as well (Installed Windows7).

I wish for FFXIV best. Big MMO's like EvE or WoW for example, are supporting Mac, and I'm sure its doing good for their business. Maybe when Ps3 version will be released it could also lunch with Mac??

Pls Sign if you would like to see this happen, and also some post from Development or Operation Team would be great, if there are any rumours, or plans for this in the future.

I'm sure the more successful releases they can get, the better.

Not to jack your thread... so if you like I'll delete this post, but also what about some type of portable OS content...
Bazaar or retainer management from the Iphone would be cool

Native OS X client would be a nice to have...but it's also so easy to create an extra partition, and use Boot Camp to run XP/W7 to be able to play on Apple hardware.

Even owning a Mac myself this is a lower priority for me than most anything else.

This has been discussed before, and the main reason SE won't official back this is because it gives certain players and advantage. The best you'll get is Fan made stuff.

Btw, I'm assuming you guys play on the Macbook Pros.

Have there been reports of playing on the normal Macbooks?

I'm typing this on a Mac, but Mac right now is pointless for games. I would love to play on Mac, but what I really mean when I say that is "I would love for DirectX to be on Mac". Since I wouldn't really love that I can't really say it. OpenGL is a mess, OpenGL implementation is a mess, graphics drivers are a mess, graphics card implementation on Macs are a mess, why would we want a game built on a mess like that? Even if you COULD play WoW on your Mac, why would you, when after a 2 minute reboot you can play in double the framerate and effects?

    If Apple would
    -take leadership of graphics architecture
-ship an iMac with 2 PCI-e slots and 2 current-gen graphics cards
-get updated drivers on par with Windows releases
    -push for Mac gaming performance

then I'd post in this thread asking for a Mac version.

Looking just at specs of the new Macbooks and benchmarks, they should be able to run the game on low settings. I've played the game on slower processors and worse graphics cards.

why would you run it on a mac at less than par settings (for almost $4k) when you could run it on a self built PC with max settings for about $800?

Healer strike is ridiculously foolish and accomplishes nothing

Its not just the hardware, its also the protocol used to communicate between your OS and graphics cards and the games themselves
