Yes...I suspect the DMCA/encryption circumvention wouldn't be an issue for personal use. Library of Congress has amended the DMCA for hacking cell phones and I suspect a similar case could be made for the right to circumvent encryption to install legally purchased software on a home built computer. But as noted in the article you linked to, the courts have not really tackled the issue.

Seems like another nightmare, they might even need a beta for mac, due to the game being built from the ground up for ps3 and pc.

I think it will resolve the DirectX Alt-Tab issue, since it would use OpenGL, which is FAR more performant, basing from what I'm seeing around Youtube.

Anyway, yeah, I'd like a Mac implementation of FFXIV (playing in an iMac 27" right now, BootCamp a go go), but I propose to perform this question after some years, when the game takes foot to the global MMO market, then we can talk about this topic more firmly =)

Still, there's still hope that a member of the Dev. Team will tell us what they think about the future =)

I'm playing on a macbook that I got in late 2009. It's playable, but the framerate can drop pretty low at times. It is good enough for me, until I have the money to build a new pc.

I pretty much loathe Steve Jobs and will never but a mac, though I do like a lot of OSX.

Don't the new macbook pros come with AMD (bobcat) APUs now? I'm pretty sure XIV would run on those.

I too would love this, I currently run it on a windows 7 boot camp build, but I have several friends who don't do that and want to play. Still, I think they have their work cut out for them, but having the game running natively on OS X would be a good call in my book.

Even have it on Steam or the Mac App store.
