I ran a few posts through Google to get a feel for what they said. What I THINK I read implied they were working on a lot of content in parallel with the battle system overhaul. It seems that there is a of content in the pipes. I hope this is the case.
Personally I want the information out sooner, so i'll take it untranslated. Especially if its a developer posting in his free time.

I`m not a translation pro so forgive me on any mistakes.
I will start with the FIRST POST about the changes that are going to be made for the economy, which are being fixed at the moment by the synth and gathering team, beginning with the lead planner Koumoto.
I`m sorry it took so long, and thank you for all your fead back. A lot is being discussed about crafting in mutiple threads,but before i answer on every single one of them, i will first talk about the overall concept for crafting.
First,about crafting.
<Revising the recipes>
For crafting, we are prior to fix the recipes that ALREADY EXIST.
1.There are too many recipes that require so many items.
2.The Rank required for the ingredients that are included in other recipes aren`t right.
We are working on making huge changes,but this is NOT for something to destroy the economy, it is to accelerate it.
<Balancing the curve line for crafters` economic activities>
Along with recipe changes,to balance out the economic activities these changes are planned.
1.Up to Rank20,crafting will be easily concluded by individuals.
2.After Rank20,crafters will actively participate in the economical activities and ZERO IN on a particular target regarding crafting.
Up to Rank20 will be balanced to be an entry phase for crafters and gatherers where people can keep advancing forward quickly. From there on(Rank20~)we will balance the surroundings so crafters can participate in the market and make the economy full-dressed.
<Revising the performance of Crafted items>
We won`t just change the recipes, we are working on distincting the performance of items made by crafters to be special.
1.So Crafters can show originality.
2.So Crafters can aim at a target judged by the demand and supply.
Even if they are items from the same rank,each Battle class has different parameter required.(On the other hand we are going to balance out the battles classes as well)So we are going to make changes where as, for example you can make an item that is best for a gladiator.
<About the New craft>
I already introduced this in the producer letter, but this isn`t only talking about the new features for craft.We are planning it for something to make the economy active. This is planned for crafting, but a long with that it`s to make the economy and distribution more fluid and we also have a concept where all classes can gain the motivation and merit from this.
The development teams is calling this the MATERIA CRAFT SYSTEM(tentative)
This system is something that turns your weapons/armor with your passion into Materias(mana stones)by using catalyst items that Gatherers can gain.
1.Fighters and sorcerers will be able to be attached to items made through this system.
2.Crafters can contribute to this demand.
3.Gatherers can collect the ingredients needed for this new system.
I will continue posting the details from here on.
<The crafting gauge(remainder)>
We have heard a lot of opinions according to this matter.
The develepoment team tested crafting WITHOUT the time limit and got the QA(Quality administration)staff to try it all out.However, getting rid of the time limit is easy,we don`t want that to make additional features and service difficult,
so we are carefully examining the direction so please wait for a while for this.But we think we can have a system where you can make itemes with 1 TOUCH for those low ranked recipes without any time loss.
<Repairing>
Last but not least, about the very important repairing.
At the moment repairing is a method for crafters to appeal their existence but for fighters and sorcerors this system isn`t welcomed and we understand that.So with the Materia craft system i said before,we are thinking about well balancing it out.But we are assuming the materia system will take a fair amount of time so we will begin with revising the items needed to repair.
We have heard opinions that the repair fees taken by NPCs are extremely expensive,but please let us consider this for the mean time.There are not many ways to spend gil in this game.So when we have more factors where players can use gil,then we will re-consider the prices for the repairing.
By adding these systems, there will be a proper demand and difference between those items gained from quests/drops and items created by gatherers and crafters. We are welcoming more opinions and more discussions!

Thanks a lot pielun, that pretty much matches my own quick read of the post. Looks very interesting, especially the part about allowing crafter to personalize the items they make.
Glad someone found time to work on a complete translation.
Is that right? Turning your beloved items into materia sounds kinda odd. That's what I kinda thought he was saying at first, but I thought it would make sense that hes saying you can customize your favorite items with magic stones to change them, since that would basically be what materia is all about.
