that pretty much what I goit from it. Two worlds 2 does that. you can break down weapons then use it to enchance another weapon that uses the same mats. This also creates a socket to add a enchancement stone.
they also make a joke about it in game on how you put the stone into the weapon. The orc saus "i don't know how to explain it easier then "put stone in hole" " well not an exact qoute. But what i read from google and what pie translated seems to sound like what I wrote.

So aside from the retarded debate on translations I do wonder if you'll be able to remove the stones or w/e they'll be called to sell your weapon or if it'll be like Evolith where once they're on you can't sell your equipment.

Ohhhh good observation...now I'm curious too. I hope you can take out the materia and reuse it. (I'm going to call it materia until I get offical translation lol)

I would put an NPC in town that removes materia for a fee. We need more gilsinks.

Well... if making the materia is really involved, like making the weapons and armor, they might make them permanent. Could even be like a whole new crafting project. Lesser materia needed to make greater materia, and such.
Complete conjecture of course.
I assume mateia is going to be a one time thing, so when you use it on an a craft, you would have to go farm more if you wanted to use them again. This will allow for more community driven cooperation. Example would be, I find a fire materia on this beetle, now i can sell it to the MW and a crafter can buy it, to help make me fire enhanced arrows.
thats my guess
