This is my first time playing FF XIV.. after early access I have to pay right away?

Yes this is a pay to play game but in its current status they better not even think about charging people to play.

What we are saying is that the first month is "free" or a "bonus". which kinda means that they don't have to be accountable to their customers or give you a working game to play. Basically an extended beta if you will, yknow, to work the bugs out before all those die hard fans hit the servers 4 months after launch.

Agree I think we all get a free first month, and somewhere in those first 30 days we should see subscription plans rolled out.
