Yikes, Camate. Might blacklist the wrong guy? Well, if that's all, I would suggest giving us the ability to right click the name, which would bring up a mini-menu that has the option to send a tell, add to party, send friend request, or add to blacklist. The blacklist option could have a big confirmation message that displays the name of the person being blacklisted, and the cursor could even start on the "Cancel" button.

For gamepad users, moving the cursor to the name of the person and pressing Square (X on xbox-style controller) would bring up the same mini-menu. This idea would utilize the same mini-menu that is used when targeting someone and pressing Square(X) and as such, you should be able to blacklist through this method as well, complete with said confirmation pop-up to ensure fewer mistake-blacklistings.

As I'm sure many have already pointed out there is just no need to be so concerned about misclicking.

And about reports, to black list or report someone you could with a pop-up menu after you right click on the name in the chat so it goes :

Player name --> Right click --> [Invite / Befriend / Black list&Report / etc.] --> Blacklist&Report options --> [Add to black list / Report gil seller / Report Harassment]

With the "Report harassment" and "Report gil seller" options automatically attaching the log text including all the shouts/tells/etc. from the person you are clicking on to speed up the process. With a final warning asking people to review the Report before sending it just like when you are posting a blog in the Lodestone.

And that's just something I thought about in the past minute, so I'm sure you guys can come up with a better solution to the problem.

As I'm sure many have already pointed out there is just no need to be so concerned about misclicking.

Misclicking using the gamepad mouse is easier than you may realize. And if a person adds someone accidentally to their blacklist by a "misclick" without realizing it, much confusion will become abound.

I think this is a bit extreme anyhow.

We apologize for those of you who have experienced real money traders spamming gil selling advertisements. We are in the midst of addressing this and appreciate your patience during this time.

As there have also been requests for an "Add to blacklist" option when selecting someone's name from the chat log, we would like to look into addressing this as well; however, this opens up the possibility of accidentally blacklisting people by misclicking etc., so we'd like to take the time to look into this carefully.

In the mean time, we would appreciate it greatly if you could report these violators through the in-game Support Desk feature where they will be handled as soon as possible, as Senior Game Master Jhanaka has mentioned below:

Yeah a black list option from chatbox would be nice, maybe map it to the subcommands when you highlight a name and press SQUARE button like with the other things - oh PS3 player here lol.

There was a Gil Seller driving me nuts on Phoenix [EU] World on Monday morning, he/it was spamming general chat and sending me "tells" every couple mins - I have a screen shot somewhere if it saved properly.
But looks like you or someone at SE smited his ass as I played on Phoenix and Ultros yesterday without any Gill Sellers spamming the place up

If you should see any of these types of shouters, you are free to place a GM Call through the System Menu. As we do not have an option to directly report these spammers to us, we ask you choose the "Harassment" option in the Support Desk menu.

We ask that you include the name of the shouter along with a sample of what they had said. The GM staff will then receive your call and address the spamming; we will be sending you a message instead of offering a live contact to ensure your game play is not interrupted.

I did exactly what was mentioned here with every gilseller I saw. I never got any response or feedback. Neither directly nor as message. So eventually I stopped reporting them and just blacklisted them.

Please give feedback to players who report gilsellers. Otherwise we stop reporting.

This is getting frustrating what's the point in submitting these violations if SE won't take swift action especially in the case of RMT advertising? There's a patricularily obnoxious RMT spammer that's been repeatedly reported but now 6+ hours later he's still happily spamming away in Ul'dah on Hyperion. D:

I am greatly offended by this insult to my intelligence. I am flabbergasted that the higher ups at Square Enix would think of their playerbase in this way, and even more confused that they would ask you to relay this information in such an offensive manner.

This is a company that won't let us send or receive tells while bound by duty because ... people might be mean to each other???? FF14 is an utter nanny state, and SE is like that kid in daycare that will only share their toys if you play with them the "right way" otherwise they'll take it away and show you how to play with it.

I thought not being able to send tells while bound by duty because you're there to finish the dungeon/duty, not talk to your friends and get distracted. I certainly feel better knowing the tank and healer in the Bowl of Embers aren't chatting up their friends instead of finishing the dungeon.
