Can someone distill what Lancer and Pugilist gameplay are like?

    Hi everyone,

I've skimmed the full list of skills (and the skills of their associated Job) of these 2 classes to try to get an idea of how they and their Jobs might play. I can tell they both have positional requirements, some gap closers, a stun or two, but I can't tell how they differentiate. If you're familiar with these 2 classes/jobs, could you tell me what the main characteristics are?

Also, of particular interest to me:
    1) Which is more mobile?
    2) Which does more burst?
    3) Which plays/moves faster?
    4) And, which one can more readily escape danger? (I have PVP in mind.)

    Thank you for any insight.

    1) In terms of Mobility, I believe pug --> monk requires more precise movement because of specific flanking and behind attacks. ( I noticed flank doesn't count when you're behind, only on the sides. So if pug/monk has flank and another skill for behind, boss fights will be alot of dancing to be optimal in damage output. )

Visual mobility, Lancer --> Dragoon has the flashy things, like jump. Jump offscreen gogo. Of course you have flank attacks for lancer as well.

    2) Lancer/Dragoon ( or LNC/DRG ) Will end up having more Burst. But I think the general consensus is a well played pug/monk ( PUG/MNK ) will have higher consistant damage.

    3) I think pug/mnk has faster gcd times cause of greased lightn.

    4) You have access to sprint in both classes. Just pop it and run away. If you mean while in dungeons for aoe etc, not sure. Haven't gotten that far yet, but I do believe DRG ends up getting a disengage jump. Don't know about MNK.

1.) Both are fairly mobile for max damage output and will need to work bosses flanks and sides. I'd say Pugilist needs to do it more than Lancer, but not by much.

2.)Lancer does more burst, but it's also a lot easier to find yourself low on TP.

3.)I've found Pugilist to be more effort, since you're a lot more dependent on keeping your skills flowing constantly. I honestly think Pugilist is designed to constantly use their skills without pause.

4.)Both are melee, so they're always closest to the target. However, both can easily disengage and survive 'parting' shots until the mob stops chasing them, if that's what you're asking.

1- in mobility i find pug/mnkbetter since mosts its attacks are fase-paced but lancer isnt bad

2- in burst i find lancer deal more dmg but pug can overcome that due its high critical hit chance + higher from back

3- pug is very fast in its action not it to mention it has a huge amount of mixed combos making it usable in many ways while lancer not much

4- both classes are melee the only backward thing with pug is they got low HP + they dont have Ranged attacks like other DD classes

I checked a wiki to see what Greased Lightning ("Increases damage dealt and attack speed.") does. So by "attack speed," it means the GCD and not something like the auto-attack speed? How much time off the GCD does it take?

I clarified my post to say I mean escaping from danger in a PVP context--such as being able to disengage either to flee or reset a fight.

Do combos simply mean using certain skills in succession? I haven't unlocked any combo skills yet to try.
