Coloured "spots" popping up on screen

First off, I'm not sure whether or not this belongs here or in another subforum.

Anyway. I'm experiencing a strange issue in that there are coloured spots appearing on my screen at random places and random moments. I can't take a screenshot of this, since they only pop up for less than a second before disappearing again. They seem to be about a centimetre in diameter.

I'm not sure what is causing this. I recently started noticing it, after I installed the new beta drivers from nVidia. But I clean installed the older WHQL driver, but I'm still seeing the spots.

Anyone else have this issue, or is it just me?

Overclock or just overheating GPU. Make sure that your GPU-Fans are alive.

I have some artifacts when playing with occlusion culling on. (sometimes when i turn my camera a quick half second artifact will pop up)
Turn it off and test if they will happen again.

Nope, gpu is not overheating at 75 degrees. It is overclocked, but it has been for a while and the problem is very recent. Also, I don't have issues in any other games.

it might not be your GPU at all.. as other people have suggested.. This can also be cause by a faulty HDMI cable.. It happened to me, I switched to use my xbox gold plated HDMI cable and no more spots.

It's weird that it only happens in a realm reborn though. I'd think that when is a faulty cable, it'd also show in other games?
It's a new DVI cable, but I'll keep the suggestion in mind. Have to get a new cable to test though.

I've been running a couple of hours without occlusion culling, but the spots are still showing up, so that's not it.

I doubt it, as I have zero issues with other games and general applications. And usually issues with the GPU show a different type of artifact than what I'm getting. I wouldn't even call them artifacts really. I wish I could screenshot it so you could see it. It's quite difficult to explain the issue without screenshots.

However, to exclude GPU issues, I'll switch my cards around in the weekend. My second card is disabled for XIV due to horrible SLI scaling. Might as well use the second card for testing.

Ignorance is the root of all doubt.

This is a HARDWARE issue, coloured spots appear when the transistors in a gpu are pushed beyond their measure and start to generate invalid results.

Not all games push hardware the same way.
Temporary relief can be obtained by reducing the clockrate of the GPU, but ideally the card should be replaced for one that is fully working at the sale specifications.
