Now I think $3 is a little extreme but the fact stands that you can do every class on one character, to Rank 50. You don't necessarily need them.

Role-players would like a word with you :P. The character limit hits us hard in that arena. We like to have multiple characters to enhance our storylines and/or just to role-play a completely different character when we feel like it. While it doesn't impact us now due to the game being free, it'll hit the RP community pretty hard once the fees are implemented. FFXI's $1 per extra slot was difficult in that regard, though still manageable. $3 per slot is just brutal on us though >.>

then another one can teleport you with their teleporters

Characters are extra $$$ for two reasons. 1., it hits gilsellers in their wallets.

No. Gilsellers do not make mule characters on the same accounts.
